Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27-4-2022: Sierra Leone

It’s officially Wednesday morning.

And the day is looking grotty: and overcast.

Overcast or not?

It’s still the day after I caught The Batman.

I’ll have my review — written and video — up later.

But it’s save to say it’s interesting.

And has interesting references: Alfred — played by Andy Serkis — tells us he’s ‘reminiscing about his days in the Circus.’

I could be wrong: but I’m assuming Alfred’s a former spy in this version of Batman’s story, and that’s a reference to the work of Le Carré.

I know of no-one else who refers to MI6’s head quarters as ‘the circus.’

*        Whatever happens, Olga?   I hope Jordi and his wife enjoy their time, here: it’s just a shame the weather’s looking murky for the next few days!

        At any rate … ?   You’re right, Lashana Lynch was spot on!   Who says 007 can’t be a woman?!   (The previous one was SPECTRE: which wasn’t bad, as I recall.)

        I watched The Batman^, in the end.   It’s not bad: but they could’ve shaved off a few minutes, here and there.   And it’s got some obvious — ish — nods to other movies and stories.   One victim get’s a cage full of rats tired to his face, the Riddler copies Heath Ledger’s Joker and sends short films to people.   And the gangster  characters … ?   Are very Godfather.   As is some of the music.   They even use this, when Carmine Falcone turns up.

‡        Guglielmo, Debbiª!   It’s the Italian version of the name, William: on a par — I think — with Guglielmo, and Guillaume.   They’re all versions of William!   I think that’s a cue for a song … !

^        Colin Farrell’s worth watching, Olga: and practically unrecognisable as the Penguin.

ª        That’s a thought, Debbi: the Eve of the Daleks/Legend of the Sea Devils double pack is out on June 28th: at least, here in the UK.
