Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 29-5-2016

Ye GODS …

That was a late night!

I have to admit, I was working, yesterday.

12 ’til 9, so you know.

So, yesterday, as you can possibly imagine, I got home: feeling just a touch tired …

But knowing, perfectly well, I’d have the day off, today.

At ANY rate … ?

At any rate, I actually managed to stay up later than I meant to …

But?   Well, remember, a week or two ago, I bought the box set of Battlestar Galactica: most of which I’d ripped by yesterday.

Except for the last two discs: which mostly consisted of extras and deleted scenes.

Cataloguing that lot — so that I knew, when I opened Handbrake, which files were which — was a job and a half!

The actual ripping procedure?   I did over night …

Just indexing those, though?   Didn’t half make my eyes ache!

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: scoring five out of five in the process.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) The last of the original US Colonies to ratify the US Constitution, did so on 29th May, 1798.   Which state was it?
Q2) 29th May was also known as Royal Oak Day: and as Oak Apple Day.   The day marks 29th May, 1660: when who was put on the throne of England?
Q3) Police and miners clashed at what’s now called the Battle of Orgreave: on 29th May, 1984.   Some of the officers are said to have been involved — and to have behaved badly — at the disaster at which football stadium?
Q4) Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring had its debut performance: on 29th May, 1913.   Was The Rite of Spring an opera, ballet or symphony?
Q5) Finally … British armed forces won the Battle of Goose Green: on 29th May, 1982.   The Battle was during which war?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) Northern Ireland’s Assembly collapsed: on 28th May of which year?
A1) 1974.
Q2) 28th May, 1907, saw the first ever Isle of Mann TT Races, held.   The race is for what: cars, motor bikes or horse?
A2) Motor bikes.
Q3) Which Eastern nation declared itself a republic: on 28th May, 2008?
A3) Nepal.
Q4) William Pitt the Younger was born on 28th May, 1759.   He first became Prime Minister at which age?
A4) 24: in 1783.
Q5) Finally … James 4th of Scotland married Mary Tudor: on 28th May of 1503.   The Treaty of Perpetual Peace, that the wedding formed the basis of, lasted how long: 5 years, 10 years or 20 years?
A5) 10 Years.
I’ll leave you with this though …
“If more politicians knew poetry, and more poets knew politics, I am convinced the world would be a little better place in which to live.”
John F. Kennedy, May 29, 1917 – November 22, 1963.
And — given I’ve been a fan of the band for YEARS — these tunes … !

Have a good day … !

*        Which reminds me, Debbi: I keep forgetting Mark Sheppard —  Canton Everett Delaware 3rd†, in in The Impossible Astronaut and Day of the Moon— crops up in Battlestar Galactica.   As an iffy lawyer, funnily!

†        Actually, Canton Everett Delaware 3rd was and is one of my favourite one-off characters!   I mean, he actually sounds like an FBI agent!

Hi, I think your website might be having browser compatibility issues.
When I look at your website in Chrome, it looks
fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping.
I just wanted to give you a quick heads up!
Other then that, great blog!
