The Daily Teaser — 12-5-2016

Oh, now I hate that when that happens.

I had to phone in ill, yesterday!

Where my guts were — again — playing up.

Thankfully, and at the moment?

Things are looking a little calmer.

But, my gods!   It’s only now — affected by a long term condition — I can see that it has several effects,

It’s got a knock on affect on how much I get paid, psychologically …

And leaves me feeling very annoyed at how my body’s behaving!

I can safely say it’s leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

Metaphorically, if nothing else.

~≈ï≈~

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 12th May is International what Day: Doctors, Nurses or Dentists?
Q2) 12th May saw the Soviet Union stop blockading West Berlin.   In which year?
Q3) 12th May, 1941, saw Konrad Vuse present the Z3 to an audience of scientists.   The Z3 is generally agreed to be the world’s first programmable … what?
Q4) 12th May, 1994, saw the death of MP, John Smith.   Which British political party had he been leader of?
Q5) Finally … The North American Aerospace Defense Command agreement was signed: on 12th May, 1958.   Name either of the countries that signed it.
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 11th May, 1942, saw the first publication of short story collection, Go Down, Moses.   Who wrote Go Down, Moses?
Q2) The US Congress established the Glacier National Park: on 11th May, 1910.   Which US state is the park in?
A2) Montana.
Q3) 11th May, 1894, Saw the start of the Pullman Strike: in the US.   The strike was a one by workers on what: river boats, railways or aircraft?
A3) Railways.   Specifically against the Pullman company.
Q4) Whistle blower, Daniel Ellsberg, had charges against him dropped: on 11th May, 1973.   He’d leaked papers from where: the White House, the Pentagon or Congress?
Q5) Finally … 11th May, 1998, saw the start of Operation Shakti: thermonuclear tests by which nation?
A5) India.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“Hypochondria is the only illness I don’t have.”
Tony Hancock, 12 May 1924 – 25 June 1968.
And something from one of my favourite singer-songwriters‡ …

Have a good day.

*        It didn’t, Olga: my innards were complaining from the minute I got up!   It’s getting ridiculous, it really is!   I can only hope that the blood tests, next week, and my GP’s appointment, a couple of week’s later, can help: but, BOY, the wait’s painful!

†        I’m keeping my fingers crossed, Debbi: I’m feeling better than I was, which is nice, but … … …

‡        Wilko Johnson — Dr Feelgood founder member, and the Blockhead’s rhythm guitarist at the time of that video — is ALSO known as Ser Ilyn Payne, in Game of Thrones.   And, yes, if you saw the execution of Ned Stark.   Wilko, as Ser Ilyn, only ever goes sideways when waving a sword … or a guitar …

I hope things improve and they'll find out quickly. The unpredictability must make it even more difficult to handle. Thinking of you
