Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 7-10-2016: Lucky Sevens

What the actual HELL?

As you know, I’m job-hunting.

And, as you possibly ALSO know … ?

I’m due to start work on Monday.

Not a problem, you might think.

Oh no …

Until, a couple of days ago, and as I’m need help with the initial season tickets?

I had to phone the relevant government phone number that lets claimants get help for these things.

I got told by the Universal Benefit line that I was eligible for one form of help, a budgeting advance: but that different help, from what’s called the Flexible Support Fund, would be a better match for my needs.

The department made an appointment, yesterday, for the Job Centre: today.

The Job Centre, meanwhile?   Gave me a call, yesterday.

Apparently, I’m not eligible for the Flexible Support Fund grant: so would have to phone the Universal Benefit people, again, to follow up on the Budgeting loan.

According to the woman who THEN dealt with my case?

I’m not eligible for the Budget loan/advance … as my income for the past six months is too high … !

In other words?   I’ve been unemployed for too short a time.

Right at the moment?

And unless the Job Centre itself can do something, today?

I’m may have to cancel the job … because the appropriate Government agencies won’t help me get to it!

Brazil, anyone?

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting her answers: scoring five out of five in the process.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s themed questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) Today is the 7th October.   Is seven a prime number?
Q2) What name is given to a seven-sided, two dimensional, shape: a septagon, septuagint or heptagon?
Q3) A polyhedron is a three dimensional object.   What name is given to a seven sided polyhedron?   (One with seven faces, in other words.)
Q4) Numbers written in base 7 will have no digit higher than the number six, as there’s only seven digits used in it: going from 0 to 6.   Base seven is also known as what: quinary, senary or septenary?
Q5) More to the point, how does one represent ‘7’ in base 7?
Q6) How is seven written: in Roman numerals?
Q7) The opening credits for TV show, The Prisoner, show us Patrick McGoohan, driving what model of car: an Austin Seven, a Lotus Seven or a BMW Series Seven?
Q8) Who, currently, is playing 007, at the movies?
Q9) Disney film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, has seven dwarves: Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Bashful and Sneezy.   Who’s the seventh dwarf?
Q10) Finally … who, in 1992, released a song called 7?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 6th October, 1887, saw the birth of architect, Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris.   He’s better known as who?
Q2) PC Keith Blakelock was killed: on 6th October, 1985.   He was killed during riots on the Broadwater Farm estate.   Estate, riots and killing were in which area of London: Tottenham, East Ham or Islington?
A2) Tottenham.
Q3) 6th October, 1942, saw the birth of actress, Britt Ekland.   She played Mary Goodnight: in which Bond film?
Q4) German colonists founded Germantown: on 6th October, 1683.   The colony’s now part of which US city?
Q5) Finally … The Gang of Four were arrested on 6th October, 1976: in China.   They were major figures in the what Revolution?
A5) The Cultural Revolution.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“The Bible and several other self help or enlightenment books cite the Seven Deadly Sins. They are: pride, greed, lust, envy, wrath, sloth, and gluttony. That pretty much covers everything that we do, that is sinful... or fun for that matter.”
David Mustaine.
And this song …

Enjoy your day.

What a nightmare? Can't they give you access to some emergency funds until you get paid? Or perhaps check if you can share some other transport? (Trains are so expensive, especially at peak times...) Perhaps they can suggest something at work...
