Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 13-9-2018: Jupiter Optimus Maximus

13th September, 2018.

Yeah: I’m at work.

Well … not right now, obviously.

The boss would complain about a member of staff floating around the office in his dressing gown!

No, what I mean is, today’s a work day day.

Yummy … !

~≈§≈~

Saying that … ?

Saying that, we’ve new trainees at work.

I’ve mixed feelings.

As — inevitably — my hours will suffer.

On the other hand … ?

I’m buddying at least one new trainee: who’s nice enough, and seems competent.

And the simple fact I’m helping train a new member of staff?

Is flattering.

Oh, well …

We’ll have to see.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 13th September, 509 BC, saw the Ancient Romans dedicate a temple to Jupiter.   Jupiter is the leader of the Roman Gods.   Leader … or what?
Q2) The temple that got dedicated was on which of Rome’s hills?
Q3) He was also the god of what: the sky, Earth or sea?
Q4) He was also god of what: thunder, lightning or rain?
Q5) Who was Jupiter’s Greek equivalent?
Q6) Jupiter would be served by a Flamen Dialis.   In other words a senior, Patrician … what?
Q7) This particular temple of Jupiter was the Temple of Jupiter Optimus Maximus.   In other words, Jupiter the best and … ?
Q8) The original Temple — the one dedicated in 509 BC — was completed by the last king of Rome.   Who was he?
Q9) The last Temple was built by Emperor Domitian.   Was that the third, fourth or fifth temple?
Q10) Finally … ?   Jupiter was the chief god of the Capitoline Triad.   Name either of the other two gods in the Triad.
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Here’s a thought …
“The Greek demigod Perseus was born when the god Jupiter visited the virgin Danaë as a shower of gold and got her with child.”
God Is Not Great. Christopher Hitchens.
And music …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        You know, Olga, I’ll have to see if there’s a Spanish version of the show with English subtitles doing the rounds.   I’d love to know what she sounded like!   (I went on a school exchange trip, many moons ago.   The German language version of the original Star Trek … ?   Was … interesting.)

†        Wasn’t it just, Debbi?   You know, at the rate things are going … ?   I may just have 7th October off.   At least the evening.   Time to put the feet up, I think …

‡        I’m tempted to tell you I talk complete aurochs, but you’d already worked that out …

It would be interesting. I remember the actor who dubbed James Stewart into Spanish did a great job and you could hardly tell his voice from the original, but in some cases, they were completely different. I remember when I first watched East Enders in English after having watched the Catalan version... Wow! Even before I left Spain in 1992 it was already possible to listen to many of the programs in original version although you needed the right TV. Now it's even easier...
I hope the training and work go well.
