Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 13th December, 2018.

13th December, 2018.

Yes: Mrs May is still the Prime Minister of the UK.

After having survived a Vote of No Confidence held by her party.

Frankly?   For those of us concerned that the #Brexit process could be going faster, that’s a day wasted: on Tory party politics, rather than the important stuff.

Oy … Vey … !

On other fronts?

I’ve got to look into the Job centre, today.

Which is nice.

Yes: there’s a reason.

Something that’s come up from a couple of jobs?   Is there simple refusal to grant me an interview … without photographic ID.

I can appreciate that.   No employer wants to run afoul of immigration law, by inadvertently hiring an illegal immigrant.

But bloody awkward if you don’t actually have any!

Thankfully?

Thankfully, though, the Job Centre’s happy to fund a new Provisional Driving License for me.

One of the modern ones that come with a photo.

That should help.

So long as I fill in the form that tells them where to putt the money … !

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 13th December is the feast of Saint Lucy of where: Syracuse, Messina or Palermo?
Q2) As part of Operation Red Dawn, 13th December, 2003, saw the capture of Saddam Hussein: not far from his home town.   What WAS that home town: Tikrit, Til Afar or Ramadi?
Q3) 13th December, 2007, saw EU members sign the Treaty of where … ?
Q4) 13th December, 1816, saw the birth of Ernst von Siemens.   As well as founding the company that bears his name, he invented a typo of what: naval mine, sub-machine gun or mobile phone?
Q5) Finally … ?   13th December, 1936, saw the birth of the fourth Aga Khan.   The Khan is the leader of the Nizari Ismailis, a denomination of which religion?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 12th December, 1956, saw the start of Operation Harvest: also called the Border Campaign.   It was a guerrilla campaign against targets in Northern Ireland: carried out by whom?

A4) North.
Q5) Finally … ?   12th December, 1965, saw the birth of Rugby player, Will Carling.   Which code of Rugby did he play?
A5) Union.
Here’s a thought …
“I sing and dance. That’s my job.”
Dick van Dyke, born December 13, 1925.
And a tune or two …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Yep, I saw the 2018 kanji item on the news, Olga.   There’s possibly a Teaser, there, but we’ll see.   At ANY rate … ?   We’ll have to see what happens with Brexit: I suspect NOT having the Confidence vote would’ve helped.   Oh … did I mention there’s an Apple Store in Covent Garden … ?   Nice to see the iMacPro …

†        It’s extremely posh, Debbi!   The actual shop had lord knows how many varieties of tea: with no sign of your supermarket stuff!   It was all in huge containers behind the counter: about the only other place I could compare it two is Inderwick’s in Carnaby Street.   The place smells incredible!   (Oh, keep your eyes on your email … !)

Q5) Isma'ilism (part of Shia Islam)
They always have a big shop in the poshest places. Here they have one in Passeig the Gracia, pretty cool as well. Good luck with the paperwork. I hope I can keep joining in but don't worry if I don't turn up. It seems to be getting very busy everywhere (teaching at the University of the People, news at the local radio pre-Christmas. Although at least there I'm going to listen to choirs singing Christmas carols tomorrow in a wonderful location, so it should be enjoyable).
