Mr Robot — Series 4: Episodes 3 — 403 Forbidden — A Review

21st October, 2019.

You know, you can tell a body’s got a quiet life style.

No, really!

The most exciting thing I’ve done this week?

Is got some shopping!

Or, and browsed around my channel, on YouTube.

I haven’t actually made much …

But, at least, managed to post up a (brief) pair of videos about movies, over the past few days.

Something I think I should do with the TV shows I write about … but not just yet: as I’m onto the third episode of Series 4 of Mr Robot.

It would be like starting a book halfway through!

Episode 3 — 403 Forbidden — opens with the early life of White Rose (BD Wong): showing us his love affair with another man whilst the pair arena diplomatic duty in the States, in the 80s.

Is the present day?   And in his identity as Minister of State Security, Zhi Zhang, has called a meeting of the Deus Group: in order to try and forestall any traps Phillip Price (Michael Cristofer) and Elliot (Rami Malek) may have laid …

Elliot, meanwhile?   Is getting involved with Olivia: so he can get to the Deus Group’s account with Cyprus National Bank.

Meanwhile, Fernando Vera (Elliot Villar) is out of prison, smuggling drugs in defrosted chicken …

And seriously interested in Elliot’s activities …

Now …

Two things, I think.

First?

Did I enjoy this episode.

The answer is — once again — a yes.

There’s a little more of Mr Robot’s hacking activities, a certain amount of romance …

And we gain some insight into White Rose’s past: something that’s sorely needed, maybe.

There’s also the fact that Mr Robot himself — played, as ever, by Christian Slater — is narrating this final series.

Quite what that implies?

I don’t know.

Yet …

The second thing?

You’ve possibly worked out I’m adding short film review videos to go with recent film review here on Nik Nak’s Old Peculiar.

I think I’ll add an equivalent TV one, at some stage.

But once I start reviewing something new.

To paraphrase Old Peculiar regular, Olga Núñez Miret?

We’ll see …
