Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19-3-2021: Red Nose Day

19th March, 2021.

Yayness!

I’ve officially had a delivery!

Of two foot of rubber hosing, so you know.

Just so you know, or start thinking I’ve got really odd habits?

I’ve got a CPAP machine: a machine that lets me breath, whilst asleep.

The hose … ?

Is a replacement for the hose that connects the machine to the mask I have to wear.

I fitted the thing, as soon as I got it.

It’s nice to have a good night’s sleep, after all.

~≈🛌≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Trevor*, Mum†, Olga‡, Debbi^ and Edithª‚ putting in their answers: with Olga, Trevor and Debbi scoring ten out of ten, and Mum and Edith on nine.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1)        19th March, 2021, is Red Nose Day.   Red Nose Day is usually held: every two years, every three years or every four years?

Q2)        The last Red Nose Day was in which year?

Q3)        You can buy a Red Nose to mark the day: with the cost donated to charity.   This year’s Red Noses are free of what: plastic, red dye or cheese?

Q4)        The organisation that runs Red Nose Day?   Is Comic … what?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Red Nose Day was founded by scriptwriter, Richard Curtis, and comedian, Lenny … who?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        Hawaii joined the USA: on 18th March of which year of the 1950s?
A1)        1959.

Q2)        It’s which state to have joined: the 48th, 49th or 50th?
A2)        The 50th.

Q3)        Hawaii’s in which Ocean: the Atlantic, Pacific or Arctic?
A3)        The Pacific.

Q4)        The state is made up of a series of islands.   What’s the largest: Oahu, Maui or Hawaii?
A4)        Hawaii.   It’s also known as the Big Island.

Q5)        What’s Hawaii’s capital?
A5)        Honolulu.

Q6)        That capital has two famous (fictional) detectives.   Steve McGarrett of Hawaii 5-0 was one.   The other was Charlie … who?
A6)        Charlie Chan.   (The character was based on real-world detective, Chang Apana.)

Q7)        Hawaii is also know as the Aloha State.   According to the Oxford English Dictionary, Aloha means what: ‘welcome,’ or ‘farewell,’ or both?
A7)        Both.   (Apparently, it also means ‘good wishes’, ‘love’ or ‘affection.’   Hawaiian sounds remarkably economic.)

Q8)        English singer, George Formby, played a banjolele: a version of the Hawaiian Ukulele.   The Ukulele’s name means jumping … what: flea, fly or cat?
A8)        Jumping flea.

Q9)        A lei is a traditional Hawaiian item, worn around what: the wrist, neck or ankle?
A9)        The neck.

Q10)        Finally … ?   Per capita, Hawaii is the world’s second biggest consumer of what: spam, baked beans or hotdogs?
A10)        Spam.   Spam’s handy.   It’s inspired a quiz or two, plenty of emails … and some singing
Here’s a thought …
“The concept of [the event] was to get British comedians to make the public laugh, while raising money to help people around the world and in the United Kingdom.” From the Wikipedia entry about Red Nose Day.
A playlist …

Which doesn’t include the one I couldn’t find on Spotify!

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Feel free to share today’s video Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        I’ve got to admit, I’ve never actually seen any, Trevor.   I do know at least one of his tunes got banned!

†        Hello, Mum!

‡        Oh, crikey!   Good luck with that, Olga: I hope they can start doing something!

^        You know, I saw Ronin: several years ago, Debbi!   I know De Niro’s in it, but wasn’t Natasha McElhone?

ª        I’m an ex-barman, Edith: it’s pretty easy.   I used to be able to do Daleks, as well.   Oh, and Australia.   Oh, and the logo for the West Ham football club: but that’s  fairly easy …

Q1) every two years

Q2) 2019

Q3) Plastic (I hope they don’t have cheese either! Not sure having your nose inside of something made of cheese for any length of time would be very pleasant either, and I love cheese. Mind you, with the masks, probably they should have produced masks with the red nose incorporated, or have they done that?)

Q4) Relief

Q5) Henry
Good news on the hose front! Well, we have the workmen here, so we shall see how it goes. Fingers crossed!

If I remember right the BBC banned a number of songs by George Formby back in the 1930’s.
This list shows how the BBC tried to censor pop music.
