Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8th June, 2022.

8th June, 2022.

Yes: today’s the day I get a phone call from my physiotherapist … and have a hygienist appointment.

And it’s rainy … or, at least, it’s been raining, and is threatening drizzle: at the very least.

Which means just one thing.

I’m going to be wearing a hat!

Oh, before I forget … ?

Can we get my nephew’s latest masterpiece a million views?

He’s feeling ambitious … so made a really short video …

If it’s any help?   It’s really short … !

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        8th June, 1949, saw Helen Keller, Danny Kaye, and Edward G Robinson accursed of being what: Communists, Nazis or Capitalists?

Q2)        The Prophet Muhammad died on 8th June, 632.   What’s the name of the religion he founded?

Q3)        8th June, 1867, saw Franz Joseph crowned as king of where: Austria, Hungary or Romania?

Q4)        George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four was first published on 8th June, 1949.   It’s set in a fictional version of the UK called Airstrip what: one, two or three?

Q5)        Finally … ?   8th June is Engineer’s Day. Where: Chile, Peru or Argentina?
Yesterday’s answers are in today’s video.

Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        The Pope recognised the Duchy of Croatia on 7th June, 879AD.   The bulk of the duchy is now part of where: Serbia, Croatia or Hungary?
A1)        Croatia.   (Parts of it are now in Bosnia and Herzegovina.)

Q2)        Karl Urban was born on 7th June, 1972.   Who did he play in the Lord of the Rings movies: Aragorn, Frodo, Gandalf or Éomer?
A2)        Éomer, son of Éomund, and brother of Éowyn.

Q3)        7th June is the feast day of Saint Gottschalk.   He’s the patron saint of whom: translators, teachers or civil servants?
A3)        Translators.

Q4)        Temperance campaigner, Carrie Nation, began vandalising bars on 7th June: of either 1899 or 1900.   She regularly used a what, to do so: a hatchet, cannon or grenade?
A4)        A hatchet.   Wikipedia’s On This Day Article says it was 1899.   Its entry on Carrie implies it was 1900: it tells us that, in this first event, she used rocks.   Heigh ho!

Q5)        Finally … ?   7th June, 1942, saw the Japanese navy beaten by the US navy.   In the Battle of which ‘M’?
A5)        Midway.
Here’s a thought …
“Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four.   If that is granted, all else follows.”
Nineteen Eighty-Four, published 8th June, 1949.
And a tune …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

The quizmaster’s decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Cheers, Olga!   Hopefully, I’ll hear quickly.
I think Carrie used rocks in this first job, Olga: a cannon would’ve gone a bit too much damage!   Now I think of it, though?   The hatchet would’ve been useful … on the wooden barrels they’d’ve used back then.
As for the Max Incident … ?   I think no-one’s going to get caught … but have caught one video that had plausible ideas: plausible, but not necessarily provable.

        Hello, Mum!

JUST the thing a body needs, Debbi: meows!
