Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 13-8-2022 — International Left Handers Day

13th August, 2022.

It’s official: it’s International Left-handers Day: and you’re allowed to hug a left-hander, today.

If you’re left handed?

You’re allowed to reset the track pad on the family laptop: to left hand use.

Because?

Because!

Now … has anyone watched today’s intro video … ?

And would anyone like to buy me some left handed stuff?

~≈👍≈~

Do you watch the news?

You’ll have possibly realised that author Salman Rushdie has been attacked: by someone who sounds like an Islamic extremist.

According to an announcement from his agent … ?

He’s on a ventilator: and risks losing an eye.

He’s got my sympathies.

His attacker?

Is facing serious charges.

The attacker could’ve avoided those: if only he’d organised a protest outside a bookshop …

~≈🤚≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga scoring five out of five, and Debbi and Mum on four.

The day also saw Trevor^ leaving us a message.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        Actress, Rebecca Romijn, is left-handed.   She plays Una Chin Riley in which version of Star Trek: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Star Trek: The Next Generation, or Star Trek: Deep Space Nine?

Q2)        According to a 2011 study article for Obstetrics and Gynaecology, the chances of a baby being left handed, may be increased by what, during pregnancy: smoking, ultrasounds or x-rays?

Q3)        Left handed rulers are numbered how: left to right, or right to left?

Q4)        Slide Hampton played what, left handedly: trumpet, trombone or guitar?

Q5)        Finally … ?   A guitar that’s strung left-handedly has the thickest string where: at the top of the neck, or the bottom?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        In the UK, 12th August is the Glorious Twelfth.   It’s the start of the what hunting season: red grouse, raven or chicken?
A1)        Red Grouse.

Q2)        12th August, 1969, saw UK police use tear gas: after nine hours of rioting in the Bogside area of Derry.   What was the name of the police force that took the action: the Metropolitan Police, the PSNI or the RUC?
A2)        The Royal Ulster Constabulary, or RUC.

Q3)        George 4th of the UK was born on 12th August, 1762.   He became king in which year: 1820, 1821 or 1822?
A3)        1820.   1820 is when he acceded the throne.   He, like the current Queen, had his coronation the following year.   (As I recall? Rupert Everett played him in The Madness of King George: if you want a good definition of the word, louche, it’s him!)

Q4)        The world’s last known Quagga died on 12th August, 1883.   The creature was a subspecies of what: horse, donkey or zebra?
A4)        A subspecies of zebra.

Q5)        Finally … ?   12th August is the feast day of Saint Jane Frances de Chantal.   She’s the patron saint of whom: widows, orphans or foundlings?
A5)        Widows.
Here’s a thought …
“Let your left hand turn away what your right hand attracts.”
The Talmud.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        It’s amazing what I‘ve found out over the years, Olga: especially after watching The Blues Brothers, way too many times.   (It gave me a vague interest in the genre: and helped convince me Willie Dixon — bassist for Muddy Waters, AND Howlin’ Wolf — was very under rated.   That da DA DA da riff you hear in so many blues songs?   That was Willie …)
I know how you feel: I’ve almost lost things, then found them, so many times!   Or … and we’ve got an Amber Warning, still: and a drought has officially been declared.   The thunderstorms better turn up on Tuesday!

        Hello, Mum!

Well, I’m glad somewhere’s modern, Debbi!   And the trains thing’s been around for a while.   There’s also a story doing the rounds: that says Black Sabbath originally called themselves a heavy metal band … as the founder members met while they were working in a steel works?   Oh, and the guitarist’s playing is unique: as he lost a finger whilst working there!   He’s left handed, so you know!

^        He’s probably managed to build up the watch hours, Trevor: you need 4000 before YouTube monetises your channel

Q1) Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

Q2) Ultrasounds

Q3) Right to left

Q4) Trombone

Q5) This is a bit of a confusing question to me, not knowing anything about guitars, left or right-handed. One thing is a left handed guitar (that at least, according to this artilce is strung the same (the thickest string at the top), and another is one that is strung left-handedly (but that could be a right-handed or a left-handed guitar), which would be the opposite. I guess, the idea is that a left-handed player, to be able to play the guitar comfortably, could use a right-handed guitar if they just strung it the other way round, whilst that would not be necessary with a left-handed guitar. But, I might have misunderstood the whole thing.

Happy international left-handers day!
Terrible news about Salman Rushdie. I have never read any of his books but some of my friends really enjoy them, and I must put him on my list. I hope he recovers.
I know I don’t have those kinds of beliefs, but, I can’t imagine a prophet or a god worrying about what a simple human being says or writes. People, on the other hand, are easy to enrage.

I was amazed when I came across this video on YouTube this morning.

It is a Scotsman explaining how he made over £45K on 2 videos on YouTube.

If you want money get a channel on YouTube.

Here is his video explaining how he made £46K.
