Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 5th January 2024.

5th January, 2024.

Right … it’s official: I woke up in a strange mood!

Hence the Pointing comment in today’s introduction video: I was feeling … um … puckish … !

Ahem!

~≈¥≈~

At any rate?

And on a more serious note?

We’re due a General Election, later this year.

I couldn’t let that got past without writing about it.

And doing a corresponding video:

Hopefully?

Those make some sort of sense!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        The GSAT 14 satellite was launched on 5th January, 2014.   By which country’s space agency?

Q2)        Construction started on 5th January, 1933.   Of what: the Empire State Building, the Hoover Dam or the Golden Gate Bridge?

Q3)        Miyazaki Hayao was born on 5th January, 1941.   He co-founded which studio: Disney, Studio Ghibli or Bad Wolf?

Q4)        Athol Guy was born on 5th January, 1940.   He was a co-founder of which Australian band: the Seekers, AC/DC or InXS?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Mandip Gill was born: on 5th January, 1988.   She played Phoebe Jackson, in which series: Dr Who, Hollyoaks or Janey Takes Off?

Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        4th January is the feast day of Ferréol of Uzès.   The ancient diocese of Uzès is in what’s now, where: France, Belgium or Germany?
A1)        France.

Q2)        Baseball player, Kris Bryant, was born on 4th January, 1992.   He currently plays for which MLB team: the Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants or the Colorado Rockies?
A2)        The Colorado Rockies.

Q3)        The Battle of Reading took place on 4th January, AD871.   The Reading in question, is in which modern English county: Berkshire, Durham or Essex?
A3)        Berkshire.

Q4)        4th January is Ogoni Day: marked by the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People.    The Ogoni people live in which African nation: Nigeria, Niger or Namibia?
A4)        Nigeria.

Q5)        Finally … ?   4th January is Independence Day in what’s now called Myanmar.   What was Myanmar called: until it changed its name in 1989?
A5)        Burma.

Here’s a thought …
“If it is a dying craft we can’t do anything about it.   Civilisation moves on.   Where are all the fresco painters now?   Where are the landscape artists?   What are they doing now?   The world is changing.   I have been very fortunate to be able to do the same job for 40 years.   That’s rare in any era.”
Miyazaki Hayao, born 5th January, 1941.
And a poem …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

I'm back! We had an exhaustingly busy day yesterday, but it went well, and this afternoon-evening we have the parade, although there is a yellow warning for rain, so I don't know if a lot of people will turn up (it seems it will go ahead regardless, unless the rain makes it too dangerous).
