Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19-5-2020: No Sell Out!

19th May, 2020.

Right …

I had an eyesore, this morning: Newcleus’ Jam on Revenge: The Wikki Wikki Song, banging through my head, this morning.

Possibly the only way to get rid of the thing?

Is to play it to you …

Or to listen to today’s song.

Which I am: I’ll play it to you, at the end of the post, if that’s OK … ?

~≈†≈~

Just as a quick thought?

It seems hackers have tried hijacking several academic supercomputers: the ones used for things like weather, climate, and economic modelling.

It seems the hackers are trying to hijack them, so they can use them for bit coin mining.

From the very little I know?

That’s possibly like using a 30 kiloton nuclear bomb to crack a nut.

Something like a render farm may be more appropriate.

It’d be using a fourteen pound sledge hammer, instead of a bomb …

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Trevor† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Trevor scoring five out of five, and Debbi on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 19th May saw the birth of activist, Malcolm X.   In which year?
Q2) He was born under which name?
Q3) He changed his surname to X, after joining the Nation of Islam.   He started using ‘Malcolm X,’ in which year: 1949, 1950 or 1951?
Q4) At the time he joined the Nation, the organisation was led by the Honourable Elijah … whom?
Q5) 1954 saw Malcolm leading what was then called Temple № 7.   The then temple was in which part of New York: Harlem, the Bronx or Bedford–Stuyvesant?

Q7) Malcolm persuaded which boxer to join the Nation?
Q8) Who’s death did Malcolm describe as a case of “Chickens coming home to roost”?
Q9) For many reasons, Malcolm left the Nation in 1964.   He converted to what: Sunni, Shia or Sufi Islam?
Q10) Finally … ?   April of 1964 saw him making the Hajj, the pilgrimage to where?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

A5) The Holy Land.
Here’s a thought …
“We cannot think of uniting with others, until after we have first united among ourselves. We cannot think of being acceptable to others until we have first proven acceptable to ourselves.”
Malcolm X.
And a song: Malcolm X: No Sell Out! …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Haven’t they just, Olga^!   Mind you, it’s been filmed, hasn’t it?   The virus shouldn’t be an issue.   I’d imagine the problem is a mix of transporting copies around … and good old fashioned licensing issues: if Netflix’s international rights are still current, that could hold things up!

†        I’ve managed to correct things, Trevor.   I was up late, the night before: I’m blaming Natalie Dormer!   (I don’t supposed you’ve got a academic super computer, Trevor?   You might want To keep an eye on it …!)

‡        Yeah, I thought as much, Debbi^!   Can I seriously suggest watching it?   Nathan Lane, as Detective Michener?   He’s a revelation, he’s up there with Michelle Hurd, in Star Trek Picard!   (Oh, about today’s 5th question?   I meant to ask how to pronounce Bedford–Stuyvesant, I’m sure I’ve got it wrong in the video!)

^        Play fair, everyone!   I did say Miriam was one of the first!

An interesting man. His autobiography well deserves a read.
I'm not sure about Netflix rights and el Ministerio, but I know I've read Netflix weren't prepared to put money into the series and I've also read that HBO are offering (will be?) the previous three series as well, so I imagine things must have been sorted out at that level at least. Perhaps they are taking their time subtitling or dubbing it for some markets. No idea...

BTW, very close on the pronunciation. It's Bedford-Sty-ve-sent. And here's where you can see how it's pronounced: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bedford%E2%80%93Stuyvesant,_Brooklyn

I'm always garbling the different British spellings of things. For instance, Worcestershire. Is it Woorstershire? Or Wor-chester-shire? :)
