Disappointing.

In the wake of the killing of Sarah Everard?

Protests had been planned.

Or, at least, vigils: many of which had to be cancelled, as the organisers could go ahead: in the light of various Covid restrictions.

The one that did go ahead, in Clapham Common?

Lead to … issues … 

What’ll happen, there, as a result?

I don’t know.

But?

I can only note that the Reclaim the Night marches — in the wake of the Yorkshire Ripper killings — also saw clashes with police.

They also failed to stop killings: like the death of Sarah Everard, like the deaths of the Ripper’s victims*, or those of the Suffolk Strangler.   Which also saw protests.

I can understand the vigil taking place, I really can.

But?

I’m wondering if they’s be taking place if Sarah Everard had been a hooker?

And, given that these seem to have no effect?

Whether there’s any point to them?

I don’t know.

A1)        The police.   (Apparently? The police obtained what’s known as a ‘No Knock’ warrant, to do the search: it allows the police to enter the named residence, without notifying the residents by knocking, or ringing the bell.   Or giving a warning, from what I can see.   I’m no legal expert, and couldn’t tell you if similar ones are used in the UK: but think they sound … iffy.)

*        Many of Peter Sutcliffe’s early victims were sex workers.   To the best of my recall?   He started attacked non-prostitutes, when police started heavier patrols of the red light districts he was targeting.   Again, to the best of my recall?   The Reclaim the Night protests only started then … 

†        I know what you mean, Olga: police and judges who are imprisoned are usually on the same wing as child abusers, and those who’ve been bullied, inside.   I’m told the slang phrases are ‘segged off,’ or ‘on the numbers.’   It’s amazing what working in pubs can tell you.

The jab went well, enough, I think: I’m only slightly sore,  and mildly feverish.   The actual jab?   Took place in the local sports centre where my sister Anna used to work.   Brentwood’s a really small town …
