Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14-12-2022 — Monkey Planet.

14th December, 2022: Monkey Planet.

Right …

It’s Wednesday, the middle of the week.

And … ?

We have two more days of strike action by postmen: starting today.

I’m sympathetic: truly.

But … ?

The sorting office strike on Sunday, unmelted snow on Monday and Tuesday?

Meant no post.

Add two more strikes day to that?

That means the sixty-seven pounds worth of fuel voucher is going to take longer to get here.

My sympathy … ?

Is starting to feel pushed.

My nephew, Jude?

Usually head’s over on Tuesdays: although he didn’t, yesterday.

The roads around here are a little too hazardous, right now.

He did manage to ask me to post this video:

So feel free to hit ‘Like’ … !

Talking of videos?

I’ve finally finished watching the last episode of The Abominable Snowmen.

The written — and badly punctuated — review is here.

It’s video equivalent?

Is here⇩:

It’s just a screaming shame The Abominable Snowmen will be the last reconstructed story for some time.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        14th December is (unofficially) Monkey Day.   Monkeys are what: primates, rodentia or Chiroptera?

Q2)        Are lemurs, monkeys?

Q3)        Monkeys are simians.   As are what: apes, anteaters or antelopes?

Q4)        Monkey is a sign in the Chinese zodiac.   Where’s the next Year of the Monkey: 2024, 2026 or 2028?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Pierre Boulle wrote the novel know in the UK as Monkey Planet.   It’s inspired at least two films called Planet of the what?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        Dick van Dyke was born on 13th December, 1925.   He plays Mr Dawes Jr in which 2018 film?
A1)        Mary Poppins Returns.

Q2)        Dartmouth College, in New Hampshire, was founded: on 13th December, 1769.   It features in the Galactic Milieu series, written by whom: Marion Zimmer Bradley, Julian May or Andre Norton?
A2)        Julian May.
Q3)        Taylor Swift was born: on 13th December, 1989.   The singer was born in which US state?

A4)        The Mediterranean.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Shāh Karim al-Husayni was born on 13th December, 1936.   He’s better known how: Roger Federer, Le Corbusier or the Aga Khan?
A5)        The (fourth) Aga Khan.
Here’s a proverb …
“You may play with the monkey, but don’t play with its tail.”
Haitian proverb.
And a playlist …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        I think I’m going to be waiting for the voucher, a while, Olga: we have a two day postal strike.   I’m sympathetic: but it’s frustrating, given the circumstances.
Hopefully?   The weather should ease a bit by the weekend.   Although, from what the BBC’s weather site say … ?   That’s when it’s going to rain.   Ho-hum!

        Hello, Mum!

Oh, tell me about it, Debbi!   And the Children Shall Lead sticks in the mind!   (Oh, there’s another service to look at … )

Q1) primates

Q2) No, although they are primates.

Q3) apes

Q4) 2028

Q5) Apes (There are quite a few movies, although I’m not sure how much they owe to the original novel. For some reason, they have been showing them recently here).
I hope you get them soon, although it doesn't sound very hopeful.
I had a bit of a wasted time yesterday, as I went to meet a woman who is organising an event on Sunday the radio is participating in, but there was a misunderstanding and she wasn't there, so I'm going today. The editor of the radio programme turned up and showed me the message, so it seems it was her who misread it. But then, he had also been waiting for almost 45 minutes for somebody who forgot they were supposed to be meeting for an interview, so I guess, we all had a bit of a funny time. Of course, it was Tuesday the 13th, and here that is supposed to be an unlucky day (rather than Friday 13th, so perhaps we should be happy it was something pretty minor). Fingers crossed this afternoon it all works.
