Thursday 29 December 2022

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 29th December, 2022.

29th December, 2022.

Thursdays always seem to be the day for it, don’t they?

No specific its.

Just its in general.

Or possibly it’s.

At any rate … ?

I’ve got to make sure I stay in, this afternoon.

I’m expecting a call about the results from my last blood tests.

And expecting a delivery: the Dr Who series 2 bluray box set, and The Iron Legion, the collected first stories from Dr Who Weekly.

Here’s hoping they’re over and done, quickly.

~≈®≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Debbi scoring ten out of ten, Olga on nine and Mum on eight.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here’s a thought …
“You can’t go through life expecting to get prizes.   You just get on with things, which is how it should be.”
Bernard Cribbins, 29 December 1928 – 27 July 2022.
And a song …

And a last tune …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        I hate to say it, Olga … but the flag of Alabama doesn’t have an eagle on it.   The Alabama Governor’s flag does!
The parade sounds fun: will you be dressing up as a coal miner, again?
Hmmm … will you be pouring the wine, or the beer?   The best I can do is tell you to keep the glass at 45º, don’t dip the nozzle into the beer and shaking the glass when you start pouring can help form the head.   Oh, and if you can manage the two part pour for a Guinness, you should be able to draw pictures in the head.   I used to do three leaf clovers, four leaf clovers, Daleks, Cybermen, West Ham logos, and five pointed stars^.   Um …

Hello, Mum!   (It was the 29th to join, and the band were Slipknot!)

If it’s any help, Debbi?   There’s only another twelve states to go … once New Mexico’s done.   Even as I say that … … … !
Oh, I’ve another film review, tonight: although I don’t know if the film will be up your street.   (It’s Prey, the recent entry in the Predator franchise.   As the main character is Comanche, they’ve done a Comanche language dub of the thing.   That’s the oddest bit of marketing I’ve seen!)

^        Oh, I get the impression some versions of the Catalan flag have five-pointed stars on them, Olga: if you want to impress people by drawing on a Guinness, that’s a nice simple design to start with.

Oh, nothing that fancy. We are on the street and it isn't a proper bar. Only cava and a few soft drinks. (I don't think there will be beer either, and if there was, it would be in cans, I suspect).
We don't dress up for the parade. Some of the people do, but we are only accompanying the two cars/mobile units the radio station has, so we only wear a yellow vest atop the usual clothes we are wearing. I would only wear the coal miner gear at the fair the day before (if I end up doing that. Nothing confirmed yet). But we do get to give/throw candy to the children lining the streets for the parade (well, and plenty of adults as well). I prefer to give them if I can, and always look for the small children, as they can't be as pushy as the bigger ones, and sometimes end up with nothing.
I hope the news about the blood results is good, and the delivery is not delayed.
I didn't do much research, but I did find it mentioned in a couple of places, I mean the eagle, but in this one it talks about flags and seals, so perhaps that was the confusion.
