Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 26th December 2022.

26th January, 2022.

Right …

Thankfully, it’s the day after Christmas Day.

Which means?

Presents have been exchanged, Mikey the rabbit worried about, and the inevitable rowing done.

You can tell I’m getting old: I’m getting more socks and underwear!

Oh, and chocolate!

If nothing else?

Jude seemed to like the web camera I got him.

Although that was over shadowed … by the VR headset he got!

Heigh ho!

We didn’t end up catching much in the way of TV, yesterday.

Bar the King’s Speech.

Which is a shame: as I missed the trailer for Dr Who’s sixtieth anniversary specials, next year.

I have caught them: and it’s nice to know one of the stories is a version of Dr Who and the Starbeast: and includes updated versions of Beep the Meep, and the Wrath Warriors.

Now … if they can follow that up with The Iron Legion, I’ll be happy.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

The day also saw Trevor^ leaving us a message.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        26th December is Boxing Day in the UK.   It’s been a UK public holiday since when: 1870, 1871 or 1872?

Q2)        26th December is Thanksgiving Day.   Where: the Solomon Isles, Vanuatu or South Africa?

Q3)        26th December, 1941, saw the UK’s Prime address a joint session of the US Congress.   Who was that PM: Benjamin Disraeli, Winston Churchill or Neville Chamberlain?

Q4)        The (then) longest high-speed rail route was opened: on 26th December, 2012.   Where: China, Brazil or India?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Handel’s Agrippina debuted: on 26th December, 1709.   It’s about which emperor’s wife: Claudius’s, Augustus’s or Hirohito’s?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        25th December is Christmas Day: for those of us using the Gregorian Calendar.   If we using the Julian Calendar, it’s on which date: 7th January, 8th January or 9th January?
A1)        7th January.

Q2)        According the the old joke, the alphabet is shorter at Christmas.   Because it has no what?
A2)        No L.   (Noël, Noël, the angels did say.).  Please tell me you laughed …

Q3)        In the UK, many will have pigs in blankets at Christmas dinner.   Pigs in blankets are sausages wrapped in what: ham, bacon or turkey?
A3)        Bacon.

Q4)        Yule is an old term for the time of year.   Versions of it were first used, where: Northern Europe, Southern Africa or Arabia?
A4)        Northern Europe.

Q5)        Finally … ?   The traditional songs sung at Christmas are whose: Carol’s, Jenny’s or Edna’s?
A5)        Carol’s.   (Carol’s as in Carols … ?   In my defence, I don’t do this often.)
Here’s a thought …
“… it is right to rebel.”
Mao Zedong, 26 December 1893 – 9 September 1976.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

I mildly envy you, then, Olga!   A lack of being stuffed a Christmas can only be good.
I’ve seen the Caganer: but the Log is a new one.   And it gets beaten up to … um … poo presents?   Into the fireplace?   It does fit with some of the other English definitions of the word, ‘log’!   At ANY rate … ?    It sounds like Christmas went as well as could be expected!   (The No L gag’s been around for a while!)

Yeah, sorry about the No L gag, Debbi: I couldn’t resist that and the Carol’s line!   At ANY rate, I hope your’s went well.
Oh … I’ve got the second series of Classic Dr Who on order: the second with William Hartnell.   I’ve never actually seen The Crusade, so we’ll have to see if I can review it.

^        I’ve got To admit, Trevor, I’ve never actually had duck: at Christmas or other times.   Maybe one day …

Well, where el Tió poops depends on where it is. IN theory, I guess the fireplace, but they have some big (even huge) ones for kids in public places and the kids can go and see it, and yes, get some presents as well. It wears a barretina (the traditional hat wore by Catalan men, that yes, it looks like the ones the Smurfs wear, but always read with the black rim). It is quite funny because when you go for walks in a forest or a wooded area, people seem to find it irresistible, and I've found quite a few cut trees where the people have painted a face like the tió's on the stump.
It seems your Christmas went quite well as well. We had a few food issues, but there was more than enough food in any case. My cousin decided to come cycling and he didn't stay long, as he didn't want to cycle in the dark.

It wasn't bad. Quiet. And we saw Glass Onion. Great movie!

I think Daniel Craig's been working on his Kentucky colonel accent! :)
