Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 21-12-2022 — The Daleks

21st December, 2022: The Daleks

Right … it’s now officially Wednesday: and the shortest day of the year.

Frankly?

It’s one I’m expecting to be quiet.

Well … quiet … bar worrying about my gas bill.

I had my voucher, yesterday: the one that’s part of the fuel rebate, and that got held up by the postal strike and bad weather.

I cashed that off as soon as I got it, and put the money onto my gas meter.

Seeing how much money was on there, after the recent cold snap?

That was scary … !

~≈Ç≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        The BBC broadcast the first TV episode to feature the Daleks.   On 21st December of which year: 1961, 1963 or 1965?

Q2)        The story saw the Daleks facing their traditional enemies.   Who were those enemies: the Thals, the Movellans or humans?

Q3)        A film version of this story was released in 1965.   What was it called?

Q4)        Who was the Daleks (fictional) creator: Baron Frankenstein, John Lumic or Davros?

Q5)        Finally … ?   This first Dalek story was an episode of which TV series?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        The Portrait Of Suzanne Bloch was stolen from a Brazilian art gallery: on 20th December, 2007.   Who painted Portrait Of Suzanne Bloch: Salvador Dalí, Diego Velázquez or Pablo Picasso?
A1)        Pablo Picasso.

Q2)        Macau — now a Special Autonomous Region — was handed back to China on 20th December, 1999.   By which country: the UK, Portugal or Italy?

Q3)        20th December, 1996, saw the US release of Scream: the first in a series of horror films.   Who directed that first film: Wes Craven, James Cameron or Ridley Scott … ?
A3)        Wes Craven.

Q4)        The first new branch of the US Armed Forces since 1947, came into being on 20th December, 2019.   What was that branch?
A4)        The US Space Force.

Q5)        Finally … ?   20th December, 1937, saw the death of Erich Ludendorff.   During World War One, he’d been a general in which country’s army: Germany’s, Italy’s or Austria-Hungary’s?
A5)        Germany’s.
Here’s a quote …
“You will move ahead of us, and follow my directions.”
First line spoken by a Dalek.
And some cheese …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        I have to admit, I had to have a look at the Portrait, Olga: I see what you mean about Blue Period.
The recording went well so you know.   Jude’s now got another video up: and has another scheduled for 18:00GMT on Christmas Day.   I might just have to make use of that scheduling feature, myself!
Nice to hear the voice survive: lets hope is stays that way!

†        Hello, Mum!

You have to wonder, Debbi, you really do!

Thanks, Paul. Yes, the programming feature is a good idea, otherwise you always end up running around, although sometimes things don't go according to plan.
I got tickets for the preview of the Whitney Huston movie + concert tonight, and Jordi has given me gift card for a concert venue as a Christmas present, so I am looking forward to checking the programme for that.
Good news on the voucher front! Here it is supposed to get warmer these days, but that is when it is sunny, and it gets chillier in the evenings. Thankfully, from tomorrow the days will get longer, although slowly.
