Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 11th November 2023.

11th November, 2023.

Yes: you’re right.

It’s a Saturday.

And?

Bar having Republica’s first LP on, in the background?

I’m expecting a quiet day.

Heigh-ho!

~≈🇨🇳≈~

Hmmm …

I have to admit, I caught some news, today: on the BBC’s Teletext service.

Seemingly?   And from January of 2024?

The city of Edinburgh is to introduce new traffic regulations.

Regulations that will fine drivers who park on the pavement, £100.

Well done, them.

Now …

When will Brentwood Council be doing this?

I guarantee you, there’s cars on the pavement, as I write.

~≈🅿️≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Mum scoring five out of five, and Debbi on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        11th November is Armistice Day: marking the end of World War One.   An armistice can also be called a cease … what?

Q2)        11th November is the feast day of Menas of Egypt.   Menas is the patron saint of Heraklion. Heraklion is on which Greek island?

Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        The Stephen Whitney crashed on 10th November, 1847: with the loss of ninety-two lives.   The crash lead to the construction of what: a lighthouse, a buoy or an channel marker?
A1)        A lighthouse.   The Fastnet Rock lighthouse, if you want to be specific.

Q2)        The UK edition of Lady Chatterly’s Lover sold out: on 10th November, 1960.   How much did it cost, at the time: 3s 6d, 4s or 4s 6d?

Here’s a thought …
“You don’t have to be handicapped to be different.   Everyone is different!”
Kim Peek, November 11, 1951 – December 19, 2009.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

That’s the trouble with Germany, Olga, there’s too many Helmuts!   At any rates, thanks: I’ve got that corrected!
        Have a good day, today!

        Long day, Debbi?

Q1) Fire

Q2) Crete

Q3) Ghost (They show it here on the telly very often, or used to. I remember watching it at the cinema, when it came out, and I’ve never been a bit fan).

Q4) On the West Coast.

Q5) 1966
Yes, plenty of Helmuts there. It happens everywhere, although with different names. There's a saying, in Catalan: "De Joans, Joseps i ases n'hi ha per totes les cases." A rough translation would be "Joans (John, in Catalan), Joseps (Joseph, you've probably guessed it), and donkeys you can find them everywhere (in all the homes and houses. Donkeys... well, asses, rather, and yes, used in a pretty similar way to the English term).
The event wasn't too bad. It does on all day, but I already have plenty of material. I even rescued a politician who'd been sent to the wrong place and was standing alone... One never knows when she can come in handy!
