Q1)        11th November is Armistice Day: marking the end of World War One.   An armistice can also be called a cease … what?

A1)        A cease-fire.   I get the impression, though, that they’re two different things.   The relevant Wikipedia articles tell us an Armistice is a formal agreement to cease hostilities, but a cease-fire can be formal or informal.   An armistice is also NOT a peace treaty: the one that ended WW1 was signed in 1919.   (Anyone know what a humanitarian pause is?)

Q2)        11th November is the feast day of Menas of Egypt.   Menas is the patron saint of Heraklion. Heraklion is on which Greek island?

A2)        Crete.

†        You know, I’ve never seen Ghost, Olga?   That’s possibly a good thing: although I know Whoopi Goldberg got a Best Supporting gong for it.

        It was a good LP, wasn’t it?   It’s just a shame they didn’t do much else: beyond a single called Christiana Obey.

§        As I recall, Olga?   Radio 4 did a version of Don Quixote, many years ago.   From the clips I’ve heard?   The continuity announcer closed one episode with “We leave Don Quixote, sitting on his ass … … ”.

        The British English pronunciation of ‘Don Quixote’ probably didn’t help …
