First things first: I’ve only got so much time.

I’ve watched, but not reviewed, the first episode of The Burning Girls.

On what I’ve seen so far?

We have a mix of The Vicar of Dibley, Twin Peaks, The Wicker Man and The Shining that could be interesting.

Like others?

I’m an unemployed person on benefits.

So I keep an eye on things like yesterday’s Autumn Statement: issued by Chancellor Jeremy Hunt.

There’s the usual minor improvements: Universal Credit is due to go up.

But?

Sanctions — especially for those of us with health problems — are going to be tightened.

And include withdrawing access to free prescriptions.

Not something I’m too worried about: I still get free medications as I’m diabetic.

But?

I can see that move, literally, killing someone.

A1)        Egypt.

Q2)        The Conference was held in which year of the 1940s?

A2)        1943.

Q3)        The conference saw leaders of three Allied Nations meet.   In other words, leaders from the UK, USA and where: China, France or the Soviet Union?

A3)        China.   (From, I should clarify, what’s now the Republic of China: what’s now Taiwan.)

Q4)        Name one of those leaders.

A4)        PM, Winston Churchill, President Franklin D. Roosevelt or Chinese President, Chiang Kai-shek.

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Conference was called to discuss how the war against whom was going: Germany, Italy or Japan?

A5)        Japan.

*        Hello, Mum!

†        A twenty-four hour test, Olga!   That sounds like a long time!   (I’m assuming it’s something like the sleep apnea test I had: you’ll be strapped into a lot of kit, over night, is that right … ?)

              The repairs … weren’t repairs, per se.   The electrician — who looked like Uncle Fester, with a beard — was checking up on the meter and fuse board.   The bath guy was doing the basic measuring up: and seriously suggested getting the extractor fan replaced!   The repair’s pencilled in for the 13th December!

        I’ll keep my fingers crossed on the building front.   But it sounds much like my building.   The landlord’s have money for one big job … those of us who live need three big jobs, doing … !

‡        I’ve seen one or two like it, Debbi: those opening credits make for a great mini-movie!   But it is VERY well done!

        Oh, I caught the first episode of The Burning Girls, last night.   One character — Lucas Wrigley — has dystonia: although I don’t know how accurate his presentation is.

        There’s another one tomorrow, Debbi: about The Colour of Magic.   Hopefully, the answers are all short!

§        I went with the Lord Mayor’s Show, Trevor: as the Wikipedia entry lists that first.   It also tells us the LMS has run for seventy-nine years, against Wimbledon’s seventy-seven.  It ran through the COVID Lockdown, but Wimbledon didn’t.   But cheers for mentioning it: I can always reword the question, if and when I reuse it.
