Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 6th May, 2024.

6th May, 2024,

Right … it’s Bank Holiday Monday … !

And the excitement is almost overwhelming!

I think we can I’m heading for ironic, there!

I’ve very little planned: bar putting some laundry away, and watching the final of the snooker world championship.

It’s the Kyren Wilson vs Jak Jones match: with Wilson leading 11-6, overnight.

The last frame of last night’s second session?

Went down to the black ball.

And, my word … !

That … was real snooker.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        6th May is the feast day of Saint Dominic Savio.   He’s the patron saint of whom: choir boys, altar boys or gargoyle cleaners?

Q2)        6th May, 1901, saw the first publication of Gorkhapatra.   Gorkhapatra is the longest, still running, Nepali language newspaper, where: Nepal, India or Bangladesh?

Q3)        6th May, 2023, saw Charles 3rd crowned as King of Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, the Bahamas, Belize, Canada, Grenada, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu … and where else?

Q4)        6th May, 1960, saw Charles’ aunt marry Anthony Armstrong Jones at Westminster Abbey.   Who was his aunt?

Q5)        Finally … ?   6th May, 1997, saw the government of the UK make what independent: the Channel Islands, Scotland or the Bank of England?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q3)        The Council’s HQ is in which French city: Paris, Lyon or Strasbourg?
A3)        Strasbourg.

Q4)        Canada, Japan and the US are Council of Europe whats: observers, associate states or guests?
A4)        Observers: they’re also called observer states.

Q5)        Finally … ?   The council shares its flag — and anthem — with whom: the UN, EU or OAU?
A5)        The EU, or European Union.
Here’s a thought …
“In my youth fashion was about moustaches and curly hair.”
Graeme Souness, born 6 May 1953.
A pastiche or two of Tony Blair …

And an earworm …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Oh … yours is on the same date as the US mother’s Day, Olga?   Our’s isn’t: but you know that!
Something you might not know?   Is the sad news Bernard Hill has died: I’m just ashamed I’ve still not seen Boys from the Black Stuff!

        Hello, Mum!

‡        My pleasure, Debbi!   :D   Just don’t get me started on the remake of The Prisoner: the only good thing in it was Ian McKellen!
At any rate, I’m sure the US version of Ghosts is doing well: I know the US remake of The Young Ones stiffed.

I hope you enjoy your quiet day. At least you don’t need to rush to your meeting this morning. No bank holiday here today.
Here, Mother's Day always falls on the first Sunday of May, whatever date that is.
No, I hadn't heard about Bernad Hill.

Ian McKellen was probably the best part. But they ruined the whole thing. Okay, okay. :)

I'm still a wee bit outraged for Patrick. Just awful ...

1. choir boys (and juvenile delinquents?)
2. Nepal
3. the UK
4. Princess Margaret
5. the Bank of England

I wish they'd bring back the original series. Although, I do have the complete set on DVD.

Oh, it turns out we can access the latest Star Trek through our cable service. So ... there's that. :)
