Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 2-5-2024 — Bend It Like Beckham.

2nd May, 2024: Bend It Like Beckham!

Right … it’s Election Day … !

Whoopee!

It basically means I have a chance to spoil my vote: at least for the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner.

There is no-one on that ballot I want to vote for.

Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

David Beckham§.
A song …

And songs¶ to mark Duane Eddy’s passing …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        An old friend lives there, with her husband, Olga.   Yes, Stafford town’s small: but it’s got history written all over it!   Cannock Chase isn’t that far away, either!
And, yes, I couldn’t resist the Marmite question.   I wasn’t surprised to find it was first made in Burton: it’s left over brewer’s yeast, after all.
Yeah, I knew about the film: I keep meaning to try and catch it, as Mincemeat — much like Bletchley Park and Inverlair Lodge — is a fascinating piece of history.

        Hello, Mum!

Yeah, Fleming was the PA to the admiral the Memo is credited to, Debbi: and is supposed to have done the dog-work for it.
Hopefully, today’s answers are just as short!   Oh, there’s a package coming over!
§        Well, he would say that, wouldn’t he?

That version of “Ghost Riders in the Sky” is quite something!

I am sure I also saw a story featuring the two pigs in another movie (or well, at least there were two pigs that enjoyed escaping. I think it might have been one about the nanny Emma Thompson plays...Or maybe I'm getting two stories mixed up).
I remember my friend Silvia's first visit to the UK when I was living there, and she's been going to English lessons forever, and was so keen on buying Marmite, as it seems one of her teachers had been talking about it. I warned her about the saying, you either love it or hate it. It seems her husband and hers didn't particularly like it...
