Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 7th May, 2024.

7th May, 2024.

Right … it’s Tuesday!

Which means it’s the day after Bank Holiday Monday!

But you knew that!

But it also means it’s the day after the Kyren Wilson/Jak Jones final: which Wilson won.

That was quite a thing to watch: Wilson won, 18-14.

But Jones?

Put up one hell of a fight: involving two frames that went down to the black.

Like I say, it was one hell of a thing to watch!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        7th May, 2024, sees the first semi-final take place.   Of the 2024 what: Eurovision Song Contest, Football World Cup, or Snooker’s World Championship?

Q2)        Actor, David Tomlinson, was born on 7th May, 1917.   He played George Banks, in which film: Mary Poppins, Bedknobs and Broomsticks or The Love Bug?

Q3)        Actor, David Tomlinson, was born on 7th May, 1917.   He played Professor Emelius Browne, in which film: Mary Poppins, Bedknobs and Broomsticks or The Love Bug?

Q4)        Actor, David Tomlinson, was born on 7th May, 1917.   He played Peter Thorndyke, in which film: Mary Poppins, Bedknobs and Broomsticks or The Love Bug?

Q5)        During Spain’s Civil War, Condor Legion arrived in Spain: on 7th May, 1937.   The Legion helped which side: the Republicans or Nationalists?

Q6)        Finally … ?   7th May is the feast day of Saint Agathius of Byzantium.   He’s usually prayed to, if you have what: constipation, a headache or toothache?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        6th May is the feast day of Saint Dominic Savio.   He’s the patron saint of whom: choir boys, altar boys or gargoyle cleaners?
A1)        Choir boys.

Q2)        6th May, 1901, saw the first publication of Gorkhapatra.   Gorkhapatra is the longest, still running, Nepali language newspaper, where: Nepal, India or Bangladesh?
A2)        Nepal.

Q3)        6th May, 2023, saw Charles 3rd crowned as King of Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, the Bahamas, Belize, Canada, Grenada, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu … and where else?
A3)        The United Kingdom.

Q4)        6th May, 1960, saw Charles’ aunt marry Anthony Armstrong Jones at Westminster Abbey.   Who was his aunt?
A4)        Princess Margaret.   (The co-incidence of the dates … was irresistible.)

Q5)        Finally … ?   6th May, 1997, saw the government of the UK make what independent: the Channel Islands, Scotland or the Bank of England?
A5)        The Bank of England.
Here’s a thought …
“It never ceases to be a profound shock to see oneself on the screen.”
David Tomlinson, 7 May 1917 – 24 June 2000.
A song …

And an earworm …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

They’re logical as well, Olga: gargoyles are part of the guttering, after all.
I have to admit, I was bored stiff, yesterday!   I think the only thing stopping me going totally bonkers was watching the snooker: the match was quite entertaining!
Oh … the Spanish one’s movable … ?   You learn something new, every day!

You’re spot on, there, Debbi!   I don’t know about you, but McKellen actually had me thinking of Peter Wyngarde’s Number 2!
Talking of The Prisoner … ?   I think I had the DVD version: but long since upgraded to the blu-ray version: there’s a lot on there!   The Don’t Knock Yourself Out documentary is fascinating.   Oh … there’s a package, coming!
