Well …
It’s official …
We’ve survived a Monday Morning … with out a celebrity dropping dead … !
Which is possibly something to be thankful for.
At any rate … ?
It’s a Monday: one I have off.
And one I …
Well, frankly, intend to do laundry on: and maybe shop, as well.
Oh … and possibly catch a film: possibly … !

But let’s move on, shall we?
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* and Olga† putting in their answers: with both scoring five out of five.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s themed questions, shall we?
Q1) 4th July is US Independence Day. What’s the capital city of the USA?
Q2) The USA’s Head of State is the President: currently, President Obama. What’s the USA’s legislature?
Q3) Name either one of that legislature’s two Houses.
Q4) The US is a federal what: monarchy, confederacy or republic?
Q5) The US declared itself independent in which year of the 1770s?
Q6) Finally … Who’s the only US President to have born on the 4th of July?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, 3rd July sees the start of the what days: dead days, dodgy days or dog days?A1) Dog Days.
Q2) 3rd July, 1987, saw war criminal, Klaus Barbie, sentenced to life imprisonment. During World War Two, Barbie had been the head of the Gestapo: in which French city?A2) Lyon.
Q3) Which Pacific island was first sighted on 3rd July, 1767: by Midshipman Robert Pitcairn?A3) Pitcairn Island.
Q4) The last known breeding pair of Great Auks were killed: on 3rd July, 1844. The birds were killed on an island off the coast of which country?
Q5) Finally … 3rd July, 1971, saw the death of singer, Jim Morrison. Which band was he the singer for?A5) The Doors.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism.”Erma Bombeck.
And this song‡ …
Have a good day …
And Happy Independence Day, if you’re celebrating.
* It could be worse, Debbi, we could WELL be going though Neuromancer. If Molly turns up, I’d get out of town. (Gibson has said, several times, that he based Molly’s rough look on Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders. Ever since? I’ve always ‘heard’ Molly as a version of her … with a heavy New York accent …)
† Yes, I knew about the later claim, Olga: although, as I recall, there were a few more links to 3rd July sighting on Wikipedia. And I think I might just have to check out The Deer Hunter … once I’ve got some credit on my iTunes account! (I didn’t find out Meryl Streep was in it, until yesterday: the things you find out, when the obituaries get published …)
‡ Personally … ? I always preferred Texas Radio …

Q4) Republic
Q5) 1776

There were a few articles about sightings later one, for sure.
I do remember a patient coming to A&E with an open fracture of the tibia (in Barcelona) who mentioned when he saw it it reminded him of a scene in the Deer Hunter (the young man was eerily calm to be honest, but yes, there are some scenes that are difficult to forget. And of course, Christopher Walken playing Russian roulette)
Great tunes, Paul! Interesting about Molly!
