Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14-7-2022 — Bastille Day.

14th July, 2022.

It’s Thursday, 14th July, 2022.

But you know that: especially if you’ve looked at a calendar.

What you might not know?

Is that it’s predicted to hit a high of 30°C in Brentwood, today.

I’m not looking forward to that.

But?

At least it’s not going to ba as bad as yesterday’s 31°!

JUST in case you’re following my TV reviews?

I’ve caught another episode of Stranger Things, the other night: episode three, The Monster and the Superhero.

I think we have another good episode.

Just be warned, there’s spoilers in the review!   Just don’t let that stop you hitting the like button!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        14th July is Bastille Day, in France.   The Bastille was a what: fortress, palace or cake shop?

Q2)        The President of France will be marking Bastille Day.   Who’s the current French President: Nicolas Sarkozy, François Hollande or Emmanuel Macron?

Q3)        Former president, Charles de Gaulle once said of his nation, “How can you govern a country which has 246 varieties of what”: cheese, wine or bread?

Q4)        The Tour de France is said to be the worlds’s largest annual sporting event.   What is the Tour de France: a tennis tournament, rugby tournament or bicycle race?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Beaujolais, Champagne and Rhône, are all French what: cheeses, wine regions or Eurovision entries?
Yesterday’s answers are in today’s video.

Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        13th July, 1814, saw the formation of the Carabinieri.   The Carabinieri are gendarmes, armed police, in which Italian speaking country: Italy, Switzerland or San Marino?
A1)        Italy.

Q2)        13th July, 1940, saw the birth of actor, Patrick Stewart.   He’s currently appearing in which Star Trek series: Star Trek Discovery, Star Trek Picard or Star Trek Lower Decks?
A2)        Star Trek Picard.

Q3)        David Cameron resigns as UK Prime Minister: on 13th July, 2016.   Who replaced him in the job: Theresa May, Boris Johnson or Tony Blair?
A3)        Theresa May.

Q4)        John Dee was born on 13th July, 1527.   He was Court Astronomer to whom: Charles 2nd, James 6th and 1st or Elizabeth 1st?
A4)        Elizabeth 1st.

Q5)        Finally … ?   And whilst Prime Minister?   13th July, 1962, Harold MacMillan sacked seven members of his Cabinet.   It’s become known as the Night of the Long what: knives, forks or spoons?
A5)        Knives.
Here’s a thought …
“France has no friends, only interests.”
Charles de Gaulle.
And the French Eurovision entry that should’ve won!

Frankly? Amina was had!

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

The quizmaster’s decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Handy to know: that puts them both at a year or two older than my Mum, Olga^.   Although I don’t think Mum’s planning on being on TV!   Star Trek Picard, itself, is quite good: it’s very much a thriller.   With the Borg Queen’s putting me in mind of Hannibal Lecter.
And thankfully?   It’s not been treated like Freaks was!
OK, short knives would be better, yes: but long knives sounds so much more dramatic!
You’ve had warnings, too?   We’ve got Amber alerts until Tuesday.   It’s … well, the sooner a storm gets here, the better.

        Hello, Mum!

That it did, Debbi^.   With an added advantage: Harold MacMillan didn’t sound like a KFC advert!

^        Olga, Debbi, did I mention I’ve been watching Stranger Things?   Paul Reiser — Carter Burke from Aliens — is in it.   Am I the only one who thinks he looks like Terry Jones?   (He’s in an old school American diner, in this episode.   I was thinking of spam …)

Terry Jones

Paul Reiser

Q1) A fortress

Q2) Emmanuel Macron

Q3) Cheese (but it seems there are close to 1000, so...)

Q4) A bicycle race

Q5) Wine regions
I think you wrote 20 instead of 30 degrees on the post. Did you swap the names when referring to Terry Jones and Paul Reiser? I mean at the bottom of the photos. I thought you were right about the similarities, but then I got confused by the pics... Yes, I've noticed that the warning here has gone to yellow now, for tomorrow. Although we've had hotter (I remember a summer with several days of 40 and even 41 degrees, especially because we had to go to sort out some paperwork and it meant walking across an area with no shades or trees... I was only 17 or 18 then, but it was unbearable even at that age. They were talking about a desert race a looooong one, where they reached 56 degrees (a Spaniard got to the end in second place, an hour after the first, and he was talking about how he trained for it... NOt something I can imagine ever even trying.
