Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 30-7-2022 — I’ll Be Back.

30th July, 2022.

Yes: it’s Saturday … it’s definitely Saturday!

And not Thursday!   Thursday, just gone, was a day and a half: as I think I mentioned, in yesterday’s Teaser.

Stabbings, deaths of actors, what have you!

There’s possibly way too much excitement, for one day … !

At any rate … ?

The one — positive — bit of excitement?

Was the postman turning up with a two gang extension lead I’d ordered.

That was handy: it meant I could set up the new cordless landline phone.

Hopefully?

I’ll be able to work out call blocking, fairly quickly!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        30th July saw the birth of Arnold Schwarzenegger.   In which German speaking nation: Germany, Austria, Switzerland or Liechtenstein?

Q2)        He rose to fame as a what: actor, singer or bodybuilder?

Q3)        Arnie was in a 1977 docudrama called Pumping what: Iron, Pistons or Water?

Q4)        He’s also acknowledged using what: cannabis, growth hormones or anabolic steroids?

Q5)        Who did Arnie play in 1982’s Conan the Barbarian: Conan, Tulsa Doom or Valeria?

Q6)        Arnie appeared in 1984’s The Terminator: as the Terminator.   Who played Sarah Connor in The Terminator: Linda Hamilton, Jodie Foster or Kathleen Turner?

Q7)        1988 saw Arnie play Julius Benedict, in the film, Twins.   Who played Victor Benedict, in Twins?

Q8)        Arnie played Ben Richards in The Running Man.   The Running Man is based on a novel by whom: Stephen King, George Orwell or H. P. Lovecraft?

Q9)        1999 saw Arnold playing Jericho Cane in End of Days.   Who played Satan in End of Days: Brendan Gleeson, Gabriel Byrne or Dermot Morgan?

Q10)        Finally?   Arnie served as governor of which US state?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        29th July is National Thai Language Day.   The Thai script is written how: left to right or right to left?
A1)        Left to right.

Q2)        29th July is the feast day of Saint Lazarus of Bethany.   Which book of the New Testament is he in: Matthew, Mark or John?
A2)        John. (A different character with the same name appears in Luke)

Q3)        Clara Bow was born on 29th July, 1905.   She was known as what: the ‘It Girl’, ‘Why Girl’ or ‘What Girl’?
A3)        The It Girl.

Q4)        29th July, 1916, saw the birth of guitarist, Charlie Christian.   He famously played for whom: Jimmy Durante, Benny Goodman or Glen Miller?
A4)        Benny Goodman.

Q5)        Finally … ?   29th July, 1941, saw the birth of actor, David Warner. In which 1976 film does he play a photographer call Keith Jennings?
A5)        The Omen.   (Sadly?   And after this set was written?   Warner died on 24th July, 2022: a few days short of his 81st birthday.)
Here’s a thought …
“Never complain if you don’t have a better solution.”
Arnold Schwarzenegger.
And a song: the only one I could find that mentioned him, and the Terminator, and performed by an Irish American rap band …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

Pointless trivia, Olga: The Omen is the only film that composer, Jerry Goldsmith, got an Oscar for.   I always find it a good LP to write to.   I still think the remake is a better film.   But it doesn’t have Billie Whitelaw, or the original Goldsmith sound track.
Thankfully?   It’s been quiet ever since the incident.   But it always seems to be that block that has the problems.   (The last few drug raids?   Have been there … )

Oh, tell me about it, Debbi!   I think I’m going to have to make an evening of the last episode!   Hopefully, season five will be shorter!
Thankfully?   It’s been quiet since the incident.   I’m just hoping the press tell us he’s survived …

Q1) Austria

Q2) He rose to fame as a what: actor, singer or bodybuilder? Well, this one is a matter of opinion, I guess. He became famous first as a bodybuilder, but many people who don’t follow that only got to know him when he became an actor. (I’m not into bodybuilding, but although I don’t like weights very much, I know the Arnold press.

Q3) Iron

Q4) Anabolic steroids

Q5) Conan (famously filmed in Spain...)

Q6) Linda Hamilton (I have a soft spot for the first film even though the second is more spectacular). I remember Linda Hamilton from Beauty and the Beast. I enjoyed that series.

Q7) Danny DeVito

Q8) Stephen King

Q9) Gabriel Byrne

Q10) California
Fingers crossed the victim is OK.
Do take care and I agree that sometimes no news is good news.

I just discovered that Kanopy has The Prisoner series available! I assume Kanopy is a US-only thing, but for all I know, maybe not. Who knows these days, right? :)
