Sunday 9 October 2022

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 9th October, 2022.

9th October, 2022.

Yes: it’s officially Sunday.

And, frankly?

I’m expecting it to be quiet.

Here’s hoping!

At any rate … ?

I’ve finish my written and video reviews of Hellraiser.

And I’ll tell you what: the box looks amazing …

~≈Ω≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

The day also saw Trevor^ leaving us a message.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        During the Seven Year War, 9th October, 1790, saw Russian and Austrian troops occupy where: Berlin, Hamburg or Dusseldorf?

Q2)        The Cook Islands were annexed by the UK: on 9th October, 1900.   The Islands are an associated state. With where: Australia, New Zealand or Vanuatu?

Q3)        9th October is World Post Day.   Guitarist, Ace Frehley, Snooker player, Terry Griffiths and novelist, Charles Bukowski, have all been what?

Q4)        9th October, 1903, saw the birth of former PM, Alec Douglas-Home.   He was the last person to serve as British Prime Minister, whilst still a member of what: the House of Lords, the National Liberal Party or the Ku Klux Klan?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Siege of Sevastopol started: on 9th October, 1854.   During which war: the Crimean War, the Boer War or the First World War?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        8th October is the feast day of Saint Thaïs.   She’s said to be a reformed what: alcoholic, courtesan or drug dealer?
A1)        Courtesan.

Q2)        8th October, 1939, saw Nazi Germany annex the western part of where: Poland, France or Yugoslavia?
A2)        Poland.

Q3)        Who won the Nobel Prize for Literature, on 8th October, 1970: Samuel Beckett, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn or Pablo Neruda?
A3)        Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn.

Q4)        8th October, 2014, saw Thomas Eric Duncan become the first person in the USA to die of what: the Ebola virus, COVID 19 or Monkey Pox?
A4)        The Ebola virus.

Q5)        Finally … ?   8th October, 1929, saw the birth of the only woman to be named as Speaker of the UK’s House of Commons.   Who was she?
A5)        Betty Boothroyd, Baroness Boothroyd.
Here’s a thought …
“I stand or fall in my profession by the public’s judgement of my performances.   No amount of publicity can dampen a good one or gloss over a bad one.”
Alistair Sim, 9 October 1900 – 19 August 1976.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        ‘Lost,’ is putting it mildly, Olga.   Tory party rules say they can’t have another leadership election for another year: and that the 1922 Committee needs to get so many letters of no confidence.   Those are going in.   Any surprise I felt is now on holiday in the Algarve …
Or is fiddling with a puzzle box.   Hellraiser is definitely one to watch!   (Jamie Clayton as Pinheadª is very good: the real star is Odessa A’zion as Riley.   She’s very sympathetic.)

        Hello, Mum!

Trust me, Debbi: Parliament’s got a ready supply of twits of ALL colours!   Oh, The Power of the Doctor’s got a UK release date: 23rd October.   They’ve not said a time, from what I’ve seen.

^        I’m on pay-as-you-go, Trevor.   I think I’m due to either get vouchers, or have it automatically put on my key.

ª        Clayton’s voice is treated: to make it sound demonic.   But I think her voice is what got her the job: unaltered, it’s got an interesting twang to it.

Not a very good day today with the questions. I was out for a walk (organised every month, Barnatresc) and covering it for the radio as well. So a bit late to get here.
I am having a class with Jordi tomorrow, so I'll see if I have time for the teaser tomorrow.
I'll definitely try to catch Hellraiser
