Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 12th January 2023

12th January, 2023.

Yes: it’s true.

It’s Thursday.

And?   I’m a little concerned: as I’ve not had this month’s Cost of Living Voucher.

The sooner that — and the £20 voucher I’m expecting from the ONS — gets here?

The happier I’ll be.

~≈£≈~

Did I mention I’ve got a man up my back passage?

Maybe I should clarify that.

Right night one of my neighbours — on the top floor of the building — need their boiler replacing.

So?

There’s a scaffolder out the back, putting up scaffolding.

Heigh-ho!

~≈👷🏻‍♂️≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        12th January is the Feast Day of Saint Bernard of Corleone.   He’s a patron saint of the victims of whom: the Yakuza, the Mafia or the Triads?

Q2)        12th January, 2022, saw the death of Ronnie Spector.   She’d been the lead singer of which girl band: the Supremes, the Ronettes or Captain Fantastic’s Jug Band?

Q3)        12th January, 1957, saw the birth of animator, John Lasseter.   He helped found which company: Pixar, Disney or Weta?

Q4)        Jeff Bezos was born on 12th January, 1964.   His best known company, Amazon, started life as an online seller of what: books, DVDs or tools?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Sven Goran Ericsson was named as the manager of England’s football team: on 12th January, 2001.   He’s from which European country?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        11th January is Prithvi Jayanti, or National Unity Day.   Where: Bhutan, Nepal or Tibet?
A1)        Nepal.

Q2)        The first person to fly solo from Hawaii to California, did so on 11th January, 1935.   Who was that parson: Amelia Earhart, Charles Lindbergh or Bessie Coleman?
A2)        Amelia Earhart.

Q3)        Throgs Neck Bridge was opened: on 11th January, 1961.   It connects the Bronx to where: Queens, Brooklyn or Manhattan?
A3)        Queens.

Q4)        An earthquake happened: on 11th January, 1693.   Where: Sicily, Rome or Naples?
A4)        Sicily.

Q5)        Finally … ?   11th January, 1915, saw the birth of Lieutenant Colonel Robert ‘Paddy’ Mayne.   He co-founded which British Army regiment: the SAS, the Rifles or the Falkland Islands Defence Force?
A5)        The Special Air Service or SAS.
Here’s a thought …
“Every technology that comes into filmmaking is first a gimmick.   Think about sound with The Jazz Singer (1927) or the first colour or surround sound - it takes a while for filmmakers to understand how to use it.”
John Lasseter, born 12th January, 1957.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!   (Olga’s just posted some photos, yesterday: she’s the lady in the purple jacket.   And Debbi’s just released her latest podcast on YouTube.)

It looks like every one had a good time, Olga.   Or, at least had a tinsel wig!   The Kings look suitable regal: but I think the parade’s missing 96 Dalmatians

Likewise, Debbi: I saw the original, many years ago.   I’ve pencilled in the TV show, but MAY swap out For All Mankind for some Spielberg.

Q1) the Mafia

Q2) the Ronettes

Q3) Pixar

Q4) Books

Q5) Sweden
Thanks, Paul. Yes. The problem with taking part in the parade is that you are too busy and get stuck in the place you are, so you don't get to see much of the other participants, other than the ones right in front and behind you. Because I was there early I saw some of the props and people on their way to their floats, but it wasn't quite the same.
Fingers crossed on the money front!
