Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22nd January 2023 Teaser.

22nd January, 2023.

Right … Sunday …

Frankly?

I’m expecting today to be quiet.

Well …

Until I head for my family’s for dinner!

Someone’s going to be noisy!

~≈Â≈~

With that said … did I mention I occasionally watch TV?

I watch TV … occasionally.

On Friday, I managed to catch The Lion: the first episode of classic Dr Who story, The Crusade.

And posted my written and video reviews, last night.

And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        It’s supposed to be the tallest, freestanding, structure in the UK, Olga.   I wouldn’t mind seeing it, at some point: just not from the top!
You’re right: and that fact people like Kim Kadashian’s been hogging it, when they don’t need to?   Doesn’t get me angry: just very cynical!   It’s … well … I think the less said the better!
And yep: name changing is possibly a thing.   There’s a road in North London’s that’s recently changed its name: the original was Black Boy Lane … !   (Funny old thing: I’ve just started watching The Crusade, and old William Hartnell, Dr Who, story.   You couldn’t do black face like that, today!)

        Hello, Mum!

You’re not wrong, there, Debbi!   I know it couldn’t be done the same way, today.   There’s three or four black extras — which would’ve been unusual for British TV, at the time — but all the main Middle Eastern characters are played by white actors in Black face!

Q1) Swiss Guards

Q2) Iran

Q3) Rabbit

Q4) The Dark Night

Q5) Hartlepool United (I did a locum one in Hartlepool. Well, I was based in Hartlepool but covered the area of Peterlee, and let me tell you, Hartlepool had much better facilities).
Yes, we're of the same mind about the medication. Here a lot of streets have changed names because they had names of people involved in the Civil War on the Francoist side (or events related to it but pretty one-sided). You're right about blackface as well. Here, for the three Wise Men (Epiphany) parade, it used to be the case that the black King was played by somebody in blackface, but these days they always find a black man (or most of the time, and there is an outrage when they don't). I met a woman whose ex-husband used to play with the black & white minstrels, and although that was quite a few years back, I remember it was already getting controversial at the time. Not sure if there will be any groups left still...

Hoo boy. That sounds a bit excruciating. :)

1. Swiss Guards
2. Iran
3. Rabbit
4. The Dark Knight (with a "K")
5. Hartlepool United

I saw Everything Everywhere All At Once last night.

Technically brilliant. Great acting. Way too many kung fu fight scenes. Exhausting. :)
