Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 19-1-2023 — Janis.

19th January, 2023: Janis.

Right … I’ve officially got a repairman coming, this afternoon.

To refit my thermostat.

Hopefully?

He’ll turn up with ID, this time!

~≈†≈~

At any rate … ?

I’ve been complaining about money: including the £150 Warm Home Discount.

And how I’ve had to waiting for this month’s Cost of Living Voucher.

That?   Finally turned up, yesterday: and got added to my meter.

Thank heavens for that.

~≈†≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        Janis Joplin was born on 19th January.   Of which year of the 1940s?

Q2)        In which US state?

Q3)        She was born in Port Arthur: as was J. P. Richardson.   J. P. Richardson was better known how: the Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens or Buddy Holly?

Q4)        Joplin was said to be a what: soprano, mezzo-soprano or contralto?

Q5)        She rose to fame in 1967.   After playing at which festival: the Monterey Pop Festival, Glastonbury or Woodstock?

Q6)        She played that festival as the lead singer of which band: the Doors, Big Brother and the Holding Company or Captain Fantastic’s Invisible Rhubarb Band?

Q7)        One of her biggest hits was a cover: called Me and Bobby McGee.   Who wrote Me and Bobby McGee: Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson or Johnny Cash?

Q8)        In the last song she recorded before her death, Joplin asked for what: a Coupe deVille, a Mini metro or a Mercedes Benz?

Q9)        Her first solo single, Kozmic Blues, was released in which year of the 1960s?

Q10)        Finally … ?   Her last album was released in 1971: three months after her death.   What was is called: Diamond, Pearl or Crystal?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        18th January saw the birth of Kevin Costner.   In which year of the 1950s?
A1)        1955.

Q2)        He played Al Harrison: in which mathematical, 2016 film?

A3)        Dances with Wolves.

Q4)        Which character did he play in Robin Hood: Princes of Thieves?
A4)        Robin Hood.   (The film version of the character is Robin of Locksley.)

Q5)        Finally?   He played the Bodyguard, in The Bodyguard.   His character was guarding a singer played by who: Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey or Mary J. Blige?
A5)        Whitney Houston.   (Apparently? Costner persuaded Princess Diana to appear in a potential sequel.   The script got to her office the day before her death.   There’s a lot I’m not saying …)
Here’s a thought …
“Music’s for grooving man, and music’s not for puttin’ yourself through bad changes, y’know?”
Janis Joplin.
And a playlist …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Ha!   I wish, Olga: my kitchen could do with new worktops!   And you’re right: they DEFINITELY changed the criteria.   I can understand why: the government’s trying to keep expenditure down.   But, having got the award one year, but not the next?   We have a government that says it wants to help those on low incomes … looks really hypocritical.
Hopefully?   The reporter will be able to do something: I’ve passed his number onto the neighbours, as well.
Good luck with the Gaudí piece: the Sagrada Família is still one hell of a building!

Hello, Mum!   (I’ll have to watch that at some point!)

I have a funny feeling you manage better than I would, Debbi.   I was using one hand to type, yesterday, whilst on the phone.   That was definitely educational!   Oh, I’ve got a film review due, tonight: of Ben Wheatley’s In the Earth.   That’s one heck of an interesting film!

Yes. The Sagrada Familia is quite a building and it keeps growing. Who knows? Perhaps we'll see it finished yet...
Oh, and keep me posted on the reporter's front. I understand they want to make savings, but considering prices have gone further up, the revisions should help more people, rather than fewer...
