Friday 13 January 2023

Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 13th January 2023.

13th January, 2023.

Right … it’s now officially Friday the 13th.

Am I worried?

Nope: things are currently going well.

Wellish, at any rate.

I got an email, yesterday: from the Court service dealing my appeal for extra help from the Job Centre.

In responce to a letter I’d sent a few months ago.

Apparently?   The case had been duplicated: and they’re waiting for a response from the Job Centre.

Hopefully?

Some sort of decision will come through, soon … !

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        13th January is the feast day of Saint Mungo: also known as Kentigern.   He’s the patron saint of what: Salmon, Cod or Trout?

Q2)        13th January is Yennayer, New Year’s Day in whose calendar: the Berbers, Yezidi or Sioux?

Q3)        13th January is Liberation Day.   Where: Togo, Liberia or South Africa?

Q4)        13th January, 1822, saw the (then) government of Greece recognise the Greek what: currency, flag or capital?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The Black Friday bushfires took place: on 13th January, 1939.   Where: Australia, New Zealand or South Africa?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        12th January is the Feast Day of Saint Bernard of Corleone.   He’s a patron saint of the victims of whom: the Yakuza, the Mafia or the Triads?
A1)        The Mafia.   (The clue was in the name!)

Q2)        12th January, 2022, saw the death of Ronnie Spector.   She’d been the lead singer of which girl band: the Supremes, the Ronettes or Captain Fantastic’s Jug Band?
A2)        The Ronettes.

Q3)        12th January, 1957, saw the birth of animator, John Lasseter.   He helped found which company: Pixar, Disney or Weta?
A3)        Pixar.

Q4)        Jeff Bezos was born on 12th January, 1964.   His best known company, Amazon, started life as an online seller of what: books, DVDs or tools?
A4)        Books.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Sven Goran Ericsson was named as the manager of England’s football team: on 12th January, 2001.   He’s from which European country?
A5)        Sweden.
Here’s a thought …
“Every technology that comes into filmmaking is first a gimmick.   Think about sound with The Jazz Singer (1927) or the first colour or surround sound - it takes a while for filmmakers to understand how to use it.”
John Lasseter, born 12th January, 1957.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        I can imagine, Olga.   We’d get the same problem at the Essex.   When we had one of the big acts on — Wilko Johnson was a very good example — we’d not be able to see a thing because the place would be that crowded!
(My fingers are crossed.   So are my toes, legs and anything else!)

Hello, Mum!   (It was the Mafia!)

‡        Oh, I know, Debbi, I know!   I’m looking forward to the Night Watch review: I figured a time travelling, police procedural would grab you.   (One with trolls, wizards, assassins and Qu^.)
I’ve got a review of West Side Story coming, tonight: Ariana DeBose was incredible as Anita.   And Rita Morena (the original Anita) was great as Valentina!

^        That first meeting between Daniel Craig’s Bond and Ben Whishaw’s Q is possibly the best such scene, ever!

Good luck on the court front as well, Paul. I am covering a children's event for the radio tomorrow morning, but I am sure I'll manage the teaser, perhaps a bit later than usual, but at some point.
