Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 27th January 2023 Teaser.

27th January, 2023.

Right …

Remember I mentioned the Warm Home Discount?

The £150 payment towards my fuel costs?

The one I didn’t get this year, as my flat’s too new, and too small, to qualify for it this time.

I … ?

Immediately put the proverbial word out to my neighbours.

And phoned local democracy reporter, Piers Meyler.

Who was interested: interested enough to pop in on me, yesterday, to get the full story: and a batch of photos.

As soon as he posts the story?

I’ll let you know.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with every scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        27th January, 1921, saw the birth of actress, Donna Reed.   Who did she play in Dallas?

Q2)        27th January, 1918, saw the birth of blues musician, Elmore James.   He was known as the king of the what guitar: slide guitar, blues guitar or steel guitar?

Q3)        The Paris Peace Accords — the treaty that ended the Vietnam War — were signed on 27th January. 27th January of which year of the 1970s?

Q4)        Prime Minister Yasuhiro Nakasone ceremonially opened the pilot tunnel for the Seikan Tunnel: on 27th January, 1983.   The Tunnel is where: Japan, China or Thailand?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Whose body was moved to a mausoleum in Moscow: on 27th January, 1924?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        Paul Newman was born on 26th January.   26th January of which year: 1923, 1924 or 1925?
A1)        1925.

Q2)        Guitarist, Eddy Van Halen was born: on 26th January, 1955.   His best known guitar was one he called what: the Fool, Lucille or the Frankenstrat?
A2)        The Frankenstrat.   The Fool was a Gibson SG with a custom paint job: originally made for Eric Clapton.   Lucille was the name B. B. King to the many Gibson semi-acoustics he’s owned over the years.   The reason he called them Lucille … makes for interesting reading!

Q3)        Ellen DeGeneres was born: on 26th January, 1958.   Her chat show ended in which year: 2020, 2021 or 2022?
A3)        2022.

Q4)        William Wrigley Jr died on 26th January, 1932.   His company made a fortune selling what: tyres, chewing gum or rum?
A4)        Chewing gum.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Brendan Rodgers was born on 26th January, 1973.   He’s the current manager of which premiership football club?
A5)        Leicester City FC.
Here’s a thought …
“I’m as close to totally neurotic as you can get without being totally neurotic.”
Bridget Fonda, born January 27, 1964.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        I got the dates wrong, there, Olga: cheers for pointing it out, I’d’ve never noticed!   But, yes, I have a Time Machine … it’s the Mac back up app!   Ahem!
The League sounds a lot like pro-celebrity five-a-side!   At any rate, I’ve passed it on to him: he said to say ‘Thank you’!   (He’s heard of Piqué: and the Shakira song!   I’m not surprised!)

        Hello, Mum!

Oh, I know about trade-backs, Debbi: I had a couple of David Edding’s Belgariad series as trade-backs.   That’s an interesting series: Lord of the Rings meets Star Wars, if you will.   Complete with a magic sword.
