Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 25th January 2023.

25th January, 2023.

Yes: it’s Wednesday.

And?   I had Jude, my nephew, over last night.

Which meant, of course, that we uploaded his most recent video.

Here;

He’s hoping to hit one thousand subscribers by the end of the year.

Would you mind … ?

Oh …

I had a delivery turn up, yesterday.

More Marmite, and some other bits.

And … ?

Well, it’s kind of nice to get a comment on an otherwise extremely silly unboxing video!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        25th January is National Voters Day.   Where: India, China or Brazil?

Q2)        Henry 8th got married to his second wife: on 25th January, 1533.   Who was his second wife: Anne Boleyn, Catherine of Aragon or Catherine Parr?

Q3)        Finland’s Defence Forces were established.   On 25th January of which year: 1918, 1920 or 1922?

Q4)        Mendelssohn’s Wedding March was played at the wedding of one Queen Victoria’s daughter’s: on 25th January, 1858.   The Wedding March is in which key: B Major, C Major or D Major?

Q5)        Finally … ?   25th January, 1947, saw Thomas Goldsmith Jr apply for the patent for his Cathode Ray Tube Amusement Device.   In other words, for the world’s first what: Television, computer or electronic game?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        24th January is Uttar Pradesh Day.   Uttar Pradesh is a state in which republic: India, the USA or Brazil?
A1)        India.

Q2)        Mark E. Smith died on 24th January, 2018.   He was lead singer of which British band: the Fall, the Cure or Captain Fantastic’s Automatic Jug Band?
A2)        The Fall.

Q3)        Ade Edmondson was born on 24th January, 1957.   He played Vyvyan in which series: Filthy, Rich and Catflap, Bottom or The Young Ones?
A3)        The Young Ones.   (The series was a highlight of my teens: and utterly hysterical.   The version that’s currently on iPlayer, though?   Has been edited to remove the rude bits.   I’m offended: the show’s supposed to be bloody offensive.   I can only tell you to buy it from iTunes: Apple’s not censored it!)

Q4)        24th January, 1935, saw the Gottfried Krueger Brewing Company start selling canned what: beer, wine or scotch?
A4)        Beer.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Sgt. Shoichi Yokoi was found in a Guam jungle: on 24th January, 1972.   He was part of which country’s Army: the USA’s, Japan’s or Vietnam’s?
A5)        Japan’s. He was one of three Japanese soldiers who evaded capture, after WW2.
Here’s a thought …
“It is unsafe to take your reader for more of a fool than he is.”

W. Somerset Maugham, 25 January 1874 – 16 December 1965.
And a poem …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        I managed to find what I needed, Olga: and double check it with the job centre, then pass it on to a few people.   Hopefully, it’ll help.
The social discount at your end sounds a lot like the Warm Home discount, here.   That’s part of the reason I couldn’t get it, this year: as they’ve tightened up the qualifications.
Oh, you got my message about Lorraine, didn’t you … ?

        Hello, Mum!

‡        It’s one of the early strips from Dr Who Weekly.   It was originally published by the UK branch Marvel.   The first five have been republished in the UK as The Iron Legion: although I don’t know if it’s been released in the US.
Nope, hang on: there’s a hardcover version on the US branch of Amazon.   For $75.   (My paperback version was £12.15: about $15, if I’ve got the current rates, right.)

Thanks, Paul. Fingers crossed somebody can help Lorraine and good to know you found some useful information to share.
I was thinking about your nephew and wondered if he knew about something a recently retired FC Barcelona player (Gerard Piqué, who recently has become more famous/infamous for breaking up with singer Shakira and her reaction to the whole thing, but anyway) has set into motion called the Kings League. I am not much of a football fan, but heard about it and I saw an item of news on it as well. It seems they have changed the rules, they play with fewer players, but you have things like players, referees, etc. wearing cameras, it is streamed online for free (I think people can also go to watch the games, but that is a different issue), and quite well known Youtubers here also comment the games, sometimes with pretty well-known players (some retired footballers head some of the teams, and the final will be played at the FC Barcelona stadium). Of course, many of the comments, etc, will be in Spanish, I imagine, but I thought he might be interested in having a look, if he hasn't yet. This is the website:

Having a quick look, if one clicks on the Kings League TV button at the top, it takes you to one of the recent games, so that might work.
