Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 7th January 2023 Teaser.

7th January, 2023.

It’s Saturday, isn’t it … ?

The morning after the night before.

And?

The morning after I watch a movie.

I’ll have my review of the thing up, later.

But I’m fairly sure of one thing: director, Jordan Peele, is a Stanley Kubrick fan.

At least … going by the intertitles …

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Debbi scoring ten out of ten, and Olga and Mum on nine.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        7th January is Tricolour Day.   Where: France, Italy, Germany or Ireland?

Q2)        7th January, 1970, saw the birth of politician, Andy Burnham.   He’s currently the mayor of where: Liverpool, Greater Manchester or Southern Matabele?

Q3)        Lewis Hamilton was born on 7th January, 1985.   He currently races for whom: Ferrari, Mercedes or Red Bull?

Q4)        President Jimmy Carter authorised a series of loans: on 7th January, 1980.   Loans to whom: Chrysler, Ford or GM?

Q5)        Finally … ?   7th February, 1912, saw the birth of cartoonist, Charles Addams.   Jenna Ortega is currently playing which of his Addams Family characters?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        6th January saw New Mexico admitted to the Union.   On 6th January of which year: 1911, 1912 or 1913?
A1)        1912.

Q2)        According to the US Census Office, New Mexico is one of eight Mountain States.   Name one of the other seven.
A2)        Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah or Wyoming.

Q3)        According to the 2010 US Census, 28.5% of New Mexico’s population speak what: Spanish, English or Navajo?
A3)        Spanish.

Q4)        New Mexico shares some of its southern border with another country.   Which country: Mexico, Guatemala or Peru?
A4)        Mexico.

Q5)        What’s the state’s capital: Santa Fe, Las Cruces or Albuquerque?
A5)        Santa Fe.

Q6)        The bizcochito is a New Mexican what: chocolate bar, cookie or lollipop?

Here’s a thought …
“There is no first world and third world.   There is only one world, for all of us to live and delight in.”
Gerald Durrell, 7 January 1925 – 30 January 1995.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!   (Piñones are pine nuts, Mum!)

I think the pine nuts are going to be one of those contentious ones, Olga: that I’ll possibly have to revise, when I get the chance!
I knew the translation of Rio Grande: and about the fact it’s on the border.   I seem to recall reading that the term ‘wetback’ — the abusive term for Mexican immigrants — comes from their effects to get across the border, by swimming the Grande.   There’s a ZZTop album called Rio Grande Mud, as well.   (I’m assuming it’s ‘grande’ as in Ariana Grande, rather than Grand Old Man?   Is that right?)
The whole green thing’s starting to move, over the past few months.   London’s been expanding its Ultra Low Emissions Zone: which is causing a lot of discussion.   Apparently, charities are objecting: at least asking for exemptions.
Pass Mireia and Oleguer my best, please, Olga: it sounds like they need it!

Yeah: sorry about the ten questions, Debbi!   The next set — on the nineteenth — is a while away!   Enjoy the extras!   The Troughton In Tibet one is quite a watch.   They recorded it in the Welsh mountains where the original series was recorded: and the scenery is just plain beautiful!

Thanks, Paul. I'll keep you posted. Now that the Christmas holidays are finally over, things will go back to normal, hopefully. I have a class with Jordi on Tuesday, and it is always a bit of a struggle to keep going again. And I am sure he will be tired after looking after his two granddaughters (twins, and I think they are 3 y.o. now).
