Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 14th November 2024.

14th November, 2024.

Right …

It’s officially official: I’ve had my ’flu jab.

After a lot of faffing about!

I was due to have it as part of a double jab: a couple of weeks ago.

Except, of course, they’d run out of the vaccine!

Which lead to a lot of frantic scrabbling around: including getting a text message from my surgery, yesterday, informing me there were appointments available to have the jab … in early October of 2024.

Ho-hum!

~≈Ü≈~

At any rate … ?

It turned out I’m also eligible for the pneumonia jab: which I’m going to have to re-arrange, as I’ve double booked it.

For the same day as my diabetes blood tests.

‘Frantic’ is possibly not the word: but at least I know why I have an earworm …

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        14th November is World Diabetes Days.   Diabetes is caused by a shortage of — or unresponsiveness to — what: insulin, thyroxine or vasopressin?

Q2)        14th November, 1962, saw the annexation of Eritrea.   By which African nation?

Q4)        Ruby Bridges became the first African American child to attend an all white school: on 14th November, 1960.   The school in question was in which US state?

Q5)        Finally … ?   NASA launched its second manned Moon mission on 14th November, 1969.   On which Apollo rocket: Apollo 9, Apollo 12 or Apollo 15?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

A1)        1887.

Q2)        The protests that triggered this Bloody Sunday, were caused, in part, by the arrest of William O’Brien.   O’Brien was a what: MP, agitator or police officer?

Q3)        The protests were also about what: the Irish Coercion Acts, the Potato Famine or Home Rule?
A3)        The Irish Coercion Acts.

Q4)        The protests took place in which London Square?
A4)        Trafalgar Square.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Sir Charles Warren declined the use of fire-engines as water cannons, during the protests.   Sir Charles was in charge of what: the Metropolitan Police, the City of London Police, or the London Fire Brigade?
A5)        Metropolitan Police.
Here’s a thought …
“We were Midwesterners born in the Bible Belt of Anglo-Saxon farmers, who prayed in the parlor and practised incest in the barn.”
Louise Brooks, November 14, 1906 – August 8, 1985.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Well … let’s just say there’s a lot of double booking going on, Olga§!   I booked up my pneumonia jab … and then realised I’ve double booked it with my diabetes blood tests.
That … ?   The fact today’s video took ages to upload, and my fuse box blew, again?   Meant I’m having a lovely morning!
Oh, and it’s the king’s birthday.   Gosh!

        Hello, Mum!

‡        Yeah … Bloody Sunday’s always an awkward one, Debbi.   All of them!   (I think there was a couple in the States …)

§        On a more positive note, Olga?   My cousin’s eldest child, and his wife, do something similar: and have their own business, in Folkestone.

Very cute shop and items! O worked in St Leonards and Hastings for a while (well, one of the hospitals was in Bexhill), but didn't go to Folkestone often.
Are both things at the same time? I try to do everything in the same day if possible, as that saves everybody time, but I am not sure if you have everything done in the same place.

Ever see the show "Derry Girls"? Fun show with a serious subject.

Rick actually got a kick out of the nun in that one!

And there was mention of a Doctor Who convention! One of the girls has a British cousin who likes Doctor Who. She mocks him, mercilessly, but clearly loves him. :)
