Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 8th November, 2024

8th November, 2024.

Did I mention I’m getting a benefit called PIP, Personal Independence Payment?

I’m getting a benefit called PIP: so you know.

As part of that … ?

One old friend — thanking you, Carly! — suggested I have a word with my GP: about getting an occupational therapist in.

To see if there’s any adjustments that can be made to my home.

There’s a couple: the cupboards on the kitchen wall could do with lowering, and a walk-in shower would be nice.

But … ?

We’ll have to see!

~≈🧑‍🍳≈~

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        8th November, 1990, saw Mary Robinson elected as the first female president of where: Ireland, India or the USA?

Q2)        Montana became part of the USA: on 8th November, 1889.   Is Montana on a US coast?

Q3)        8th November is the international day of what: radiology, psychiatry or philology?

Q4)        Gordon Ramsey was born on 8th November, 1966.   He was awarded an OBE in 2006. For services to what: catering, the TV industry or the hospitality industry?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Former DJ, Paul McKenna, was born on 8th November, 1963.   He’s better remembered as a what: stage magician, stage hypnotist or an escapologist?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        Marie Curie was born on 7th November. In which year of the 1860s?
A1)        1867.

Q2)        Where: Poland, Estonia or Belorussia?

A2)        Poland.
Q3)        She won her first Nobel prize in 1903: among side her husband, Pierre Curie, and Professor Henri Becquerel. The award was for their work on what: radiation, optics or electromagnetism?
A3)        Radiation.

Q4)        She won her second Nobel Prize for discovering two radioactive elements. In which year was that win: 1910, 1911 or 1912?
A4)        1911.

Q5)        Finally … ? Her second Nobel Prize was won for discovering two radioactive elements. Name one of those elements.
A5)        Polonium or radium.
Here’s a thought …
“For me, the primary tell-tale sign that I’m on my kids’ bad side is when they refuse their allowance.”
Gordon Ramsey, born 8 November 1966.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum … !

†        Yep: especially if Mr Putin’s involved, Olga!   Oh, he’s already said the President-elect being elected is a good thing.   Suiciding Trump seems more and more attractive!   As does his having a heart attack.
There’s an old line from an episode of The Prisoner seems relevant, Olga: word to the effect that “… even its best friends agree democracy’s not perfect!”

My pleasure, Debbi!   Hopefully, the answers in the upcoming big sets will be equally as brief.
(Where DID that quote come from, Debbi?   The one about democracy’s best friends?   I’ve had a quick scan of “Free For All”, but I’m blowed if I can find it!)

Oh, I read quite a few people saying that they believed Trump might have rigged the elections, because some of the results seemed weird, and he kept saying that people didn't need to go and vote, as if he already knew he would have more than enough votes anyway. Well, you know what I mean... In any case, I agree with the quote. I have to cover another piece of news for the radio tomorrow morning (a miniatures fair), but I hope I'll be able to join the teaser, although it might be later than usual.
The suggestion about the OT doing an assessment sounds good.
