Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 30th July, 2020.

30th July, 2020.

Right …

I’ve actually managed to get a dentists appointment booked up for tomorrow.

At eleven.   In the morning, before you ask!

I’m …

OK, I’m mildly nervous.

Tooth-extraction’s not pleasant.

But, hey.

Once it’s done, it’s done.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring ten out of ten.

The day also saw Trevor‡ looking in to tell us about his thumb.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 30th July, 1955, saw the birth of drummer, Rat Scabies.   In 1976, he was a founder member of which punk band?
Q2) 30th July, 1958, saw the birth of Kate Bush.   What was her debut UK single?
Q3) The House of Burgesses convened for the first time: on 30th July, 1619.   It was the first colonial Assembly in what’s now the Americas … and took place in what’s now which US state?
Q4) 30th July, 1975, saw who disappear from a Detroit carpark?
Q5) Finally?   30th July, 1968, saw the birth of drummer, Sean Moore.   Who does he play drums for?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 29th July is International Tiger Day.   Tigers are big … what?
A1) Cats.
Q2) Tigers are what: carnivores, omnivores or herbivores?
A2) Carnivores.   (Apparently?   They’re obligate carnivores, that can only eat meat.)
Q3) Panthera tigris tigris include the Malayan, Indochinese, South China, Caspian and Siberian tigers.   Which one have we missed?
A3) The Bengal Tiger.
Q4) Panthera tigris sondaica, on the other hand, include the Sumatran tigers, Bali tigers and what else?
A4) The Javan tiger.   (Of the three, the only one that still survives is the Sumatran tiger.)
Q5) There’s speculation that the tiger’s closest relative is what: the snow leopard, cougar or lynx?
A5) The snow leopard.
Q6) What’s smaller: male tigers or female tigers?
Q7) There’s a Bengal Tiger in Kipling’s The Jungle Book.   What’s the tiger called?
A7) Shere Khan.
Q8) The WW2-era Tiger 1 was a German what: bomber, tank or submarine?
A8) Tank.
Q9) Which computer company made an operating system called Tiger: Apple, Google or Microsoft?
A9) Apple.   (I loved Tiger: they got the windows right!)
Q10) Finally … ?   Who won the US Open in 2000, 2002 and 2008?
Here’s a thought …
“Just because somebody’s been in an ad on TV, so what? Who gives a toss?”
Kate Bush, 30th July, 1958.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Cheers, Olga!   As many crossed fingers as possible would be useful!

†        We know, Debbi: every day you’re here is appreciated!

‡        I know what you mean, Trevor, my microwave clock’s git!   Now … Have I suggested an artificial thumb … ?
