The Mandalorian — Series 1 Chapter 1 — The Mandalorian — A Review

24th July, 2020.

OK …

Is now a good time to mention the old Bucks Fizz song, Makin’ Your Mind Up?

Yes?

No … ?

Possibly not: no-one needs that amount of cheese at this time of the evening.

At any rate … ?

I can safely say I’ve had dinner.

And made my mind up about what to watch.

In case you hadn’t noticed the poster?

I felt sitting down with the Disney+ series, The Mandalorian, would be an idea: episode one of Series 1, so you know.

And yes … I think I’m impressed …

Some five years after the fall of the Empire, Chapter 1The Mandalorian — opens in an unnamed bar on an unnamed planet.

And shows us a heavily armoured, but unnamed, Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) bounty hunter, capturing a target: and taking him to his base, to claim the reward.

A reward he collects from Guild leader, Greef Karga (Carl Weather), who has a potentially big job for his best known agent.

A mysterious Client (Werner Herzog) is looking to pay serious money for to have the Mandalorian bring the Client a fifty years old asset: at an heavily guarded location.

This mission?

Could prove interesting …

Now … ?

Have I enjoyed this episode?   Was I impressed?

I think I can say yes: to both questions.

But I’m not sure I could tell you why, with any certainty.

I do know that this debut episode?

With it’s mix of Old West andSpace Opera has me interested.

Combined with enough Star Wars references to make me want to see more.

In the midst of job hunting, and everything else?

Even if I don’t watch series two?

I certainly want to watching the rest of series one!
