Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 13-2-2022: Radio Daze

13th February, 2022.

Hmmm …

Romford’s handy.

No, really.

I was there, yesterday.

Getting there was interesting: as there was a bus replacement service.

Getting back … ?

Was even more interesting.

Ish.

I got to part of the roads around Romford Station where the replacement buses left from.   Only to be told that they were no longer stopping at Brentwood, where I get off.

It was only when we got to Gidea Park — the next stop down from Romford — that we were told by a Transport for London worker that the delay?

Was due to an accident at the Brooke Street Roundabout; and that the bus would skip Brentwood, and stop at Shenfield.

And that there’d be a shuttle bus from Shenfield to Brentwood.

He stayed on the bus to guide the driver on the — temporarily — revised route.

Well played him: it could’ve taken a couple hours to get home, if he hadn’t.

Frustrating … ?

Yes.

But I have to admit, that one worker — who was able to tell people what was going on, AND guide the bus driver — was bloody helpful: especially dealing with the one stroppy — and very middle class — customer.

That was something to see.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser sawOlga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.

Herbert Hoover.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

The quizmaster’s decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Oh, I’ve had them, Olga: I think this might be a new strain.   Or it’s mutated.   Hopefully, it’ll pass, quickly.   I’m just hope I’ve not infected anyone: that bus ride went on longer than it should’ve!
Yeah: too much weigh can be a struggle, for sure.   I know it’s having an effect on my knee: or, at least, is exaggerating the effects that are already there.   Hopefully, the programmes I’m on — as well as the Forxiga^, in particular — seem to be helping.
Give Montserrat my regards please, I know exactly how tricky this is!

        Hello, Mum!

My pleasure, Debbi, any time!   Oh … net result of listening to the video you mentioned: I’ve looked up Inverlair Lodge, again.   It mentioned this: apparently, it mentions the US and Soviet Villages.   (You know, I think the Russian one gets a mention in Forsyth’s The Fourth Protocol.   But it’s been years since I’ve read it!)

^        My GP’s upped the dosage of the stuff: I believe the recent weight loss is being helped by that, but couldn’t tell you for sure.

My uncle lost a fair amount of weight when he started on the medication for his diabetes (it was a few years back. He went for a routine blood test and they called him urgently because his levels were sky-high. He is almost 90, and although this summer his sugar wasn't that well-controlled, he is very good for his age). He used to eat a lot of bread, but he has always kept quite active and loves to potter around the house mending things, he and my aunt go for several walks every day, and he loves his bicycle.
I hope you feel better soon. And you're right about the man helping with the bus. Sometimes a person can make a lot of difference.
