Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 22-2-2022: Mr Washington

22nd February, 2022.

Yes: it’s a Tuesday.

Which means … ?

I’ve got a quiet day.

Bar the wind … and the usual phone meeting with my Job Centre Case worker.

By phone, thankfully.

Granted, the weather’s starting to calm down … but I’d hate to risk a bus trip to Basildon in this weather.

Did I mention videos at any point … ?

I should.

I’ve got to confess to being a fan of the (anonymous) Bad Lip Reading: whose clip of various shows and events — with the original audio replaced by audio of his own design — have always tickled me.

He’s down a Dune one that caught my attention.

Especially when everyone starts spitting!

Ahem!

That’s one video …

Another … ?

Yes, you’re right … my nephew’s done another one!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Mum scoring five out of five, and Debbi on four.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1)        22nd February saw the birth of George Washington.   22nd February of which year: 1730, 1732 or 1734?

Q2)        George was the first modern president of the USA.   In which year of the 1780s was he elected president??

Q3)        Who was Washington’s immediate successor as President: John Adams, Thomas Jefferson or James Madison?

Q4)        He’s known as the what of the nation: Father, Mother or son?

Q5)        Finally … ?   Washington was head of the Continental what, during the American Revolution: the Continental Army, Navy or Airforce?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        The Cherokee Phoenix was first published on 21st February, 1828.   It’s the first newspaper in Cherokee.   And the first to use what: the Cherokee alphabet, Cherokee syllabary or Cherokee pictograms?
A1)        The Cherokee syllabary.   If I’ve understood things correctly?   The glyphs in a syllabary represent a syllable: a whereas the letters in an alphabet are shorter sounds, or phonemes.   No … I don’t know, either … !

Q2)        During World War One, 21st February, 1916, saw the start of the Battle of Verdun.   The Battle was in which European country: Germany, France or Belgium?
A2)        France.

Q3)        Reza Pahlavi seized control of Tehran, during a coup: on 21st February, 1921.   A coup, where: Iran, Iraq or Turkey?
A3)        Iran: Pahlavi later became Shah of Iran.

Q4)        21st February is the feast day of Saint Peter Damien.   He’s traditionally depicted as a cardinal, holding what: a cheese wheel, knotted rope, or fork?
A4)        Knotted rope.

Q5)        Finally … ?   21st February is Feralia.   Feralia was a festival in Ancient where: China, Greece or Rome?
A5)        Rome.
Here’s a thought …
“But lest some unlucky event should happen unfavorable to my reputation, I beg it may be remembered by every gentleman in the room that I this day declare with the utmost sincerity, I do not think myself equal to the command I am honoured with.”
George Washington.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

The quizmaster’s decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Yes: I seem to recall Hampshire got hit.   Not as badly as some parts of the UK … but I don’t suppose Rosie’s going to more worried about what’s happening for her.   I can’t say I blame her!   I think things are calming down, here: but even so …
Sounds like I’ll have to add Brideshead to my To Be Watched list … !
(I couldn’t resist Sinnerman: they use a cover as the closing theme of Lovecraft Country, but sometimes … ?   The originals are better!)

        Hello, Mum!

        Sorry, Debbi, couldn’t resist it!
Oh, did you hear the news … ?   Stewart Bevan — Dr Clifford Jones from The Green Death, — has died.
(Sorry about the score, by the way: but the paper used the Cherokee syllabary.)

Good if things are calming down there. Here the political soap goes on and on. Oh, well. Good luck with the meeting. (Oh, and it seems that Rosie's parents have the electricity back).

That’s a thought, Debbi, if you’re reading this …

Apparently? Someone did a mock up of what they thought Washington would look like as a modern day president.

There’s Arguments about his suit, would you believe?
