Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 17th February, 2022.

17th February, 2022.

Yep: it’s Thursday, again.

You can tell, can’t you … ?

And, once again?

I’ve got a weight management class: via Zoom.

I have to admit, it’s helpful: but, lord, it’s a drone-fest!

~≈Ë≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1)        17th February is the feast day of Saint Constabilis.   He’s the patron saint of whom: tinkers, tailors, soldiers, sailors, rich men, poor men, beggar men or thieves?

Q2)        17th February, 1991, saw the birth of Ed Sheehan.   What was the name of his first album: +, x, ÷, / or =?

Q3)        17th February, 1981, saw the birth of actor, Joseph Gordon-Levitt.   In which 2012 film did he play Robin ‘John’ Blake?

Q4)        Jen-Hsun Huang was born on 17th February, 1963.   Nvidia, the company he leads, make what: graphics processing units, USB memory stick or floppy drives?

Q5)        Finally?   Richard Briers died on 17th February, 2013.   He played Tom Good in which series: The Good Life, Roobarb or Goodbye, Mr Kent?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        16th February saw the birth of writer, Iain Banks.   In which year of the 1950s?
A1)        1954.

Q2)        His first novel, The Wasp Factory, was published in which year of the 1980s?
A2)        1984.

Q3)        He published mainstream novels as Iain Banks.   He published science-fiction novels as what: Iain N. Banks, Iain M. Banks or Iain O. Banks?
A3)        Iain M. Banks.

Q4)        Many of his science fiction novels were set in the same background universe.   What background universe: the Federation, Confederacy or Culture?
A4)        The Culture.   Elon Musk — of Tesla fame — has named a couple of his landing platforms after Culture ships: Just Read the Instructions and A Shortfall of Gravitas and Of Course I Still Love You.

Q5)        Finally … ?   The last book published during his life was called The Hydrogen Sonata.   His last book was published posthumously, and called what: The Quarry, The Prey or The Fallen?
A5)        The Quarry.
Here’s a thought …
“Rewriting unjust laws is a basic human right and fundamental obligation.”
Huey P. Newton, February 17, 1942 – August 22, 1989.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

The quizmaster’s decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        They went well enough, Olga.   Hopefully, we’ll be getting rid of those dratted side-planks!   And I’m a little more confident about the route between their office, and Chelmsford station.   I just hope Anna’s lesson goes as well!
You go RIGHT on ahead with the rant!   You’re right, though: there’s only so much poking about that welfare systems need!   Have a VERY good day, Olga!   :D

        Hello, Mum!

:D   Thought it might appeal, Debbi!
Oh, did I tell you I caught Ghostbusters: Afterlife^, the other night?   It’s not too bad.   But there’s a minor continuity error you can drive an Ecto 1 through.

^        I’ve had an old Buzzcocks tune banging around my head since I saw it, Debbi!

Q1) Sailors

Q2) +

Q3) The Dark Knight Rises (I really like him. I came across Mysterious Skin a while back, and it is such a fantastic movie. And Brick as well. He tends to choose interesting movies. Oh, he isn’t bad as the Philippe Petit in The Walk, although I think the documentary Man on Wire is even better than the movie).

Q4) Graphics processing units

Q5) The Good Life
Good about your meetings, and I hope the Zoom meeting isn't too bad. They can be a pain, although most of the ones I've attended recently are webinars, so not that much interaction interrupting.
Anna was very tired. She had been staying at a friend's for a few days while her parents were away, and it seems she hadn't slept much, so she struggled. She's not doing too badly with the exams, but not as well as she was doing by the end of last year. I think trying to fit everything in is proving complicated...
I have a radio event this afternoon, about local history. Talking about when the area of Barcelona I live in (Sants) joined Barcelona, 125 years ago (it used to be a separate village). I know the historian doing the talk, and he is a very good speaker and knows everything.
