Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 7-6-2019: The End Of May.

7th June, 2019

Yep: Thursdays  are turning into something of a tradition.

Yep: my nephew, Jude … ?

Like’s making video.

Even if he does dry up in front of the camera … and have a Dominoes fixation …

Ahem … !

~≈§≈~

I have to confess, I’m … mildly sad today.

I was never a big fan of Dr John: but today?

Saw news of his death reach the UK.

Like I saw: I wasn’t a huge fan.

But?

I got sent a copy of his first album, Gris Gris, many years ago.

If you’ve not heard that?

It’s unlike anything I’d heard.

If you’ve not listened to it?

Well …

Now is possibly the time …

The man is no longer with us.

His music?   Coming out of a Louisiana swamp?   Is.

~≈§≈~

Let’s move on, shall we?   As Aunty Beeb handed me one hell of a theme, when I was writing today’s Teaser …

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Badwolf*, Olga†, and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with all three scoring five out of five.

The day also saw Trevorª leaving us some facts about Dan Dare.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) Theresa May steps down on 7th June, 2019.   As leader of which British political party?
Q2) Theresa May steps down on 7th June, 2019.   From which British political post?
Q3) The post she’s leaving is one of the Great Offices of State.   Which of the others has Theresa May also held?
Q4) Her government post mean’s that Ms May is head of the what: cupboard, wardrobe or cabinet?
Q5) The UK’s first woman to hold Theresa May’s position resigned in 1990: amid rows over the EU.   Who was she?
Q6) Finally … Which British constituency does Theresa May represent in Parliament?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) During World War 2, 6th June saw the start of the D-Day landings: the Allied operation to invade Normandy.   6th June of which year?
A1) 1944.
Q2) The landings were what’s known as a what: airborne assault, amphibious assault or a frontal assault?
A2) Amphibious assault.
Q3) To get to Normandy, the Allied Army had to cross what … ?
A3) The English Channel.
Q4) The British Army planned to use Hobart’s Funnies during the D Day landings.  Hobart’s Funnies were specially modified what?
A4) Tanks.
Q5) Finally … who was in charge of the British forces at the landings?
A5) Field Marshal Bernard ‘Monty’ Montgomery.   I believe that, at the time of the landings, he was a general, rather than a field marshal.   Dwight D Eisenhower was in over all command of the allied forces: with Monty in charge of the ground forces.
Here’s a thought …
“I will shortly leave the job that it has been the honour of my life to hold - the second female prime minister but certainly not the last.”
Theresa May, Prime Minister 2016-2019.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Have a good day.

*        Morning, Anne^!   Glad to be able to help.   Oh, if you’ve got an Android phone, you can do the same with it.   The jokes are just as cheesy …

†        Funny you should mention antiques, Olga^: we got my Uncle Brian an antique comic for his birthday, a couple of years ago.   The price was … quite high.   But DID include very good customer service, and a specialised airtight bag that prevents any sunlight damage.   (Actually … iTunes itself isn’t the issue, sizewise.   At least, not on more modern machines.   Individual iTunes libraries, though, can be big.   That’s why I’ve got my movie/TV library on a separate drive!)

‡        Yeah, that’s where the NHS wins, Debbi^: everyone gets served.   I’d not say ‘No’ to private health care.   But I’m very aware I couldn’t afford it.   The NHS does.   And I, like ANY of us?   Am very aware the private hospitals don’t deal with emergency case.   You get stabbed in the street, the ambulance heads for the nearest public hospital.   What happens in the US?   (Oh, have a look at today’s Teaser video, Debbi.   You’ll know the quote!)

^        Sorry about the Monty question: I really should have worded that differently!   Terence Otway commanded the paratroops on the day.   Miles Dempsey was in charge of the Second Army.   I’m going to get the hang of this, one day …

ª        Oh, Trevor, I’ve left you a comment on yesterday’s Teaser!   but, yes, I knew about Dan Dare: 2000AD did a revival, when I was young.

lol love that joke, I don't have an android phone, just fire tablet, I do have an Echo Dot, on there is an Alexa App. Erm, when it understands my accent, she tells jokes if you ask her, terrible ones, she even has this function where you can have a virtual pet, feed it and well hear it grow. Madness.
Hope you have a great Weekend

Yes, I can imagine about the library size. I thought you might enjoy/be interested, in this two articles I came across today. It seems Apple is in everybody’s minds.

Oh, and talking about that book I mentioned yesterday, the 1950s sci-fi, I’m not sure how much it would cost me to send it to you (I don’t imagine it would be a fortune even if it’s a hardback, although not a huge one), but if you’d like me to send it to you, let me know. I really like it, but I have a tonne of books, and I know I’ll keep accumulating them, and it would be good to know it will go to a good home. (You can always send me a mailing address through a DM on Twitter).
