Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 4-7-2020: Independence Day

4th July, 2020.

I THINK I’ve got something out of O2: the company that supplies my mobile phone service.

A couple of weeks ago, the phone mast in my area went down: and is currently being replaced.

The process has been going on for a couple of weeks.

Between you and me?   I expected it to take another week or so.

The scaffold being being built, to get to the roof of the relevant building?   Is only halfway up.

At this rate … ?

It’s going to take at least another week.

At any rate … ?

I managed to get through to the relevant person at O2.

They HAD offered me a £30 credit onto my phone account.

Then upped it to a £45 credit.

Then — finally — agreed to put £45 into my bank account.

As I’d repeatedly pointed out that £45 on my phon was a fat lot of good … if I was getting no signal … 

It should go through with in seven working days.

And will mostly be spent, paying for the landline calls I made … phoning O2 …

A4) Football: or soccer, as it’s known in North America.

Q5) Finally … ?   What’s the French name for Québec City?

A5) Ville de Québec.   (The city’s name in both French and English, is Québec: with the accent over the first E.   This is to distinguish it from the formal English name of the province: Quebec, which is spelt without the accent.)

*        The thermostat went swimmingly, Olga.   The two phone calls to O2, on the other hand … ?   I was seriously biting my tongue.   Angry doesn’t even start.

But at least the weather, here, has calmed down … a bit.   I think we’re due more rain, though: it’s got THAT type of feel.   Plus, we also have clouds.   I just hope the drains in your building can be cleared quickly.   (From what I can recall from my time in the call centre?   If the main stack pipe get’s blocked, it can cause al sorts of issues.)

And, yes, I saw it, Olga!   I don’t know who’d be more impressed, me or Jude!   :D
