19th October, 2023: Oxfordshire Day.
Right … I actually think I have a quiet day, today.
Well, it’s Thursday, after all.
I’m not exactly going to be going very far: given the weather.
It looks like it’s going to throw down, at some point!
Let’s move on, shall we?
Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on three.
The day also saw Trevor§ leaving us a message.
Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?
Q1) 19th October is Oxfordshire Day. What’s Oxfordshire’s country town?Q2) Oxfordshire is usually abbreviated to what: Oxon, Oxo or Ox?Q3) Marjorie Glasgow is Oxfordshire’s current what: Lord Lieutenant, Lord Mayor or High Sheriff?Q4) What’s the only stone circle in Oxfordshire?Q5) Finally … ? Chef, Rick Stein, was born in Oxfordshire. He now owns a lot of restaurants, where: Devon, Cornwall or Somerset … ?
Q1) 18th October, 2013, saw a Middle Eastern nation refuse a seat on the UN Security Council. Here’s a thought …
“Oxfordshire is a ceremonial county in South East England.”From the Wikipedia entry one Oxfordshire.
And a song …
Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.
Decisions about scores are final.
Thank you for coming: have a good day.
* Oooh, cheers, Olga! I’ll keep my eyes open for it. Hopefully, I’ll be able to pick some up with the Cost of Living payment! Soda crystals on the teatowels sounds tempting: lord knowns the hot wash didn’t work out!
It’s nice to hear what you think about Stef Coburn: I was wondering quite what to make of him! (I’ve seen his Twitter profile. The Plain English Campaign would be having fits!)
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Jude, too: he’s supposed to be going on holiday to Stockholm, this week! (Wish your Mother well for me, please!)
† Hello, Mum!
‡ Oh, it’s possible, Debbi! I’ve seen the guy’s Twitter profile! Apparently, he’s a “mysterious point of perception, of unknown origin, empirically experiencing hypothesized ‘objective-reality’, as a multiple-vector, subjective data-stream.”
The man needs medication, help or a thick ear!
§ It’s up, running and paid for, Trevor: thanking you! All I need now is some soda crystals, and cleaning vinegar. And maybe some bleach!
Trust me, An Earthly Child is not making Anthony Coburn’s son look good! Nor was some of his quotes about passing on copies! (Someone had to tell him quite what ‘uploading’ implied!)
Uploading mean ripping the DVD & uploading to YouTube, Vimeo, Daily Motion, Pirate Bay, KAT and Torrent Galaxy. These *uploaded* copies would be both watchable & — as they’re violating your father’s copyright — illegal.Passing ANY form of copy along is illegal.— Paul Downie (@Cuddy2977) October 18, 2023

Oh, I hope Jude is better in time for his trip.
Sometimes the difference between somebody being an eccentric and being completely mad is not clear, but even somebody with odd ideas tend to have some logic and follow common sense. When it starts affecting their lives and those of others, perhaps it has gone beyond being a bit weird.
That must be interesting. :)
