Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 1st September, 2022.

1st September, 2022.

Right …

Just so you know: I had a visit from an electrician working for my landlord.

Who was here to do the five yearly safety check.

The chap was thorough: even managing to unscrew many of the plug sockets, to check their wiring.

It’s the first time I’ve managed to sweep behind some of the tables in years!

At any rate?

And as far as I can tell?

My flat passed.

Not with flying colours: but with enough of a colourful smear to be safe.

Today?

Today’s going to be a little different.

Today’s teaser should be on time: as I’ve not got an electrician down.

That means I’ll be able to do the phone meeting I’m due to have at 11, with my Restart* case worker.

On time!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga†, Mum‡ and Debbi^ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring five out of five, and Mum on four.

The day also saw Trevorª leaving us a message.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here’s a thought …
“If you do not find it credible you will at least be as one with me in acknowledging that it is unique, remarkable, and interesting.”
From Chapter one of Tarzan of the Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs, September 1, 1875 – March 19, 1950.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        That links to the .gov page about the scheme.   Which tells me it gives claimants “enhanced support to find jobs in their local area.”   I can’t see how.   Mine’s in Chelmsford.

I think there’s more than on patron saint, Olga.   But you’re right: I’m also sure I’ve used it as a wrong option.   Joseph of Arimathea does make sense as the official saint, though, given the stories.
Time off for painful periods does make sense.   But laws can be a good example of unintended consequences.   If I’ve understood it, one Texan school has introduced a regulation that means it must remove a given book from school: if at least one person objects to its ‘adult content’.   They’ve had to remove the Bible …
Are we talking about the 5G mobile network, Olga, or the router’s 5 GHz band?   It’s two different things.   You should be able to access your router with your browser: and switch different devices to different bands.   That MAY help things.

‡        Hello, Mum!

^        What, about Tom Baker as a vicar?   He was in a seminary, Debbi!
But yeah … the Disappeared are … well, what can I tell you?
Yep: the electrician turn up.   Although he was more Oliver Reed with a bear, than DeNiro with a back pack!

Q1) Boston

Q2) Telephone operator

Q3) The USSR

Q4) Coronation Street

Q5) Roman
You're right, yes. Laws are tricky.
The problem was that the router wasn't well configured and there wasn't a 5GHz option, which would give me the speed I had contracted. When I spoke to the technician, he managed to sort it out remotely, so no visit.
Good luck with your phone meeting.
