Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 16th June, 2023.

16th June, 2023.

Right …

To quote the David Essex character in Jeff Wayne’s War of The Worlds?

I’VE GOT A PLAN!”

Although not one that involves living in sewers.

At ANY rate … ?

It’s about time I sat down with some more Star Trek: as series two of Star Trek Strange New Worlds started, last night.

If nothing else, La’an Noonien Singh having a drinking contest with Klingons could be fun!

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga*, Mum† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with Olga and Debbi scoring ten out of ten, and Mum on eight.

The day also saw Trevor¶ leaving us a message.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        16th June is Youth Day.   Where: South Africa, Gambia or Zimbabwe?

Q2)        16th June, 1898, saw the birth of Leonard Howell.   He’s a major figure in which new religious movement: Scientology, Jesus Army or Rastafari?

Q3)        16th June is the feast day of Saint Lutgardis.   She’s the patron saint of whom: the blind, deaf or mute?

Q4)        Cardinal Giovanni Ferretti was elected pope: on 16th June, 1846.   Under what name: Pius 9th, Benedict 15th or John Paul 1st?

Q5)        Finally … ?   16th June, 2010, saw Bhutan become the first country to completely ban what: heroin, tobacco or alcohol?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        Arkansas joined the USA.   On 15th June of which year: 1835, 1836 or 1837?
A1)        1836.

Q2)        The state’s also known as the what: natural state, sunshine state or cool state?
A2)        The Natural State.

Q3)        Arkansas was which state to join the Union: the 24th, 25th or 26th?
A3)        The 25th.

Q4)        The 42nd Governor of Arkansas also served as the 42nd President of the USA.   Who was that President?
A4)        Bill Clinton. (Not at the same time, obviously.   But it’s that sort of coincidence that makes for a good question, I think.)

Q5)        The Arkansas Chuggabug appeared in which series: The Flintstones, Wacky Races or The Banana Splits Adventure Hour?
A5)        Wacky Races.   (I always thought it was driven by the Ant Hill Mob: but no, they were in the Bulletproof Bomb.   The Chuggabug was driven by Lazy Luke and Blubber Bear.   I always thought of Bill Clinton as the Arkansas Chuggaboom.)
Q6)        Arkansas was on which side during the American Civil War: Confederate or Union?
A6)        Despite initially being a Union state? It joined the Confederacy.

Q7)        The largest diamond found in the USA was found in Arkansas: and weighed over forty carats.   It’s known as the what diamond: the Washington, Columbia or the Uncle Sam?
A7)        The Uncle Sam.   (The Crater of Diamonds State Park it was found in, is the only publicly accessible diamond mine on Earth.)

Q8)        Arkansas’ capital is largest city.   What’s it called: Little Rock, Little Hill or Little Big Horn?
A8)        Little Rock.

Q9)        That capital is said to be where queso was invented.   What IS queso: tomato sauce, beef stock or cheese dip?
A9)        Cheese dip.

Q10)        Finally … ?   Legendary musician, Johnny Cash, was born in Arkansas.   He was famous for playing what sort of music: country, rap or classical?
A10)        Country.
Here’s a thought …

“… someone told him that I was playing a very good game with one of the new gutta balls, and I could see fine from the expression on his face, that he did not like it at all.”
Old Tom Morris, 16 June 1821 – 24 May 1908.

And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Looks like it’s more common than I thought, Olga!   There’s possibly a study or two, in there!

        Hello, Mum!

        Sorry, Debbi! :D

        You’ve annoyed Debbi, now, Trevor!

Yes, not a bad idea to study the phenomenon.
I was expecting a quiet weekend, but Pau phoned me from the radio to cover a piece of news this Saturday morning (this one is about housing and against speculation), on Sunday morning I have one of the regular walks they organise in Barcelona (Barnatresc), and a British author I've known (online) for a long time, whose detective books (set in Thailand, where he is based, although he works all over the place) I really enjoy, is visiting Barcelona. We've kept meaning to meet each other for years, in the UK or here, but never managed to be in the same place at the same time. So, fingers crossed this afternoon we manage to meet.
