Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 26th June, 2023.

26th June.

Right … I’m up early, again.

Yes: it’s Monday, again.

Which means I’m off to my usual weight management class.

Hopefully, I’ll’ve lost a few pounds.

Did I mention a new comic shop’s opened in Brentwood?

A new comic shop — Comic Book Heroes Villains — has opened in Brentwood.

I even managed to get a trade in.

I’m not totally sure I got the best deal: even though I ended up walking away with a vintage Target Dr Who book.

Underworld, if you’re interested.

At any rate?

I’m not totally convinced I got the best deal.

Had I been less rushed, I’d’ve possibly done more research into what prices I could’ve — or possibly should’ve — got.

And?

Something that hampered me, there, was simply the fact Comic Book Heroes Villains doesn’t have it’s own website.

Oh, they’ve got a Facebook page: and an Instagram account.

But nothing on the line’s of CeX’s uk.webuy.com site: where you can look up the price offered on goods you want to sell to the company.

Yes: I realise that’s a big ask for a company that only has two shops.

Running such a site costs possibly more money, time and effort, than a small company has.

But … ?

It’s something I know I would’ve appreciated seeing.

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Mum*, Olga† and Debbi‡ putting in their answers: with everyone scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video.

Q1)        26th June is the feast day of Saint Vigilius of Trent.   He’s the patron saint of what: mining, fishing or carnivals?

Q2)        Hollie Arnold was born on 26th June, 1994.   She’s a Paralympic athlete who competes in what: javelin, discus or the 100m sprint?

Q3)        Bangui was founded on 26th June, 1889.   The city is now the capital of where: Zaire, South Africa or the Central African Republic?

Q4)        The Cyclone opened on Coney Island: on 26th June, 1927.   It’s a what: ferris wheel, carousel or roller coaster?

Q5)        Finally … ?   The US Supreme Court ruled same sex couples allowed to marry: on 26th June, 2015.   The ruling was made under which Amendment to the US Constitution: the 14th, 15th or 16th?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1)        George Orwell was born.   On 25th June of which year of the 1900s?
A1)        1903.

Q2)        Which of Orwell’s novel’s was set in British-ruled Burma?
A2)        Burmese Day.

Q3)        In an essay for the London Evening Standard, Orwell argued that what was a mainstay of civilisation: tea, coffee or beer?
A3)        Tea.   (The man was a heathen: he put the tea in, before the milk!)

Q4)        Orwell’s Keep the Aspidistra Flying was first published in 1936.   What is an aspidistra: a plant, dog or rock?
A4)        A plant.

Q5)        Finally … ?   Napoleon, Snowball and Squealer are pigs.   In which Orwell novel?
A5)        Animal Farm.
Here’s a thought …
“Me, act?   Why, I just make faces!   Really, that’s all I do, I make lots of faces and they pay me for it.”
Peter Lorre, June 26, 1904 – March 23, 1964.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Decisions about scores are final.

Thank you for coming: have a good day.

*        Hello, Mum!

I think they do them in Sainsbury’s, Olga.   But don’t quote me: it’s been a while since I’ve seen them.   (Shortbread … ?   I’ve not had shortbread for a while! )
I’ve got to admit, I’m really trying to keep off the sugary sweets: but sometimes, those Yorkie bars are just a little too tempting!

It’s the second set about him, I’ve done, Debbi: he’s usually good for something!
(I hope the package got through, OK!)
